Haiyore! Nyaruko-san : 7.75/10

+Comedy is nice and stays fresh through out the season
+Main char (i.e. Nyaruko) is just awesome

One might complain about no serious plot but then again that was not the point in this anime, so not caring about that.

Haha, showdown, you are the first person to see rate Angel Beats that low. But then again to each his own. I personally rate it 8.5/10

I would rate it 7/10.

(click to show/hide)Overall it is good, however I wasn't satisfied with the way it ended and despite the focus on character development, the characters I honestly wanted to like never made any progressive change to appeal to me. The story was interesting and that was the only reason I continued watching. I initially stopped after the second episode since one of the main characters made me want to rip my hair out, but it got progressively better and more interesting as it went along.

Honestly, the one thing I can take from this anime is the name Clare. It was repeated over and over by one of the most annoying characters ever.

Comparisons -
(click to show/hide)This is somewhat like the plot of D. Gray-man in which exorcists have to defeat monsters of varying levels. Well in Claymore, the monster hunters are called Claymores and they're all girls (and blond for that matter). Both stories are contrived in the same ways and have the same plot essentially with differences in names and certain specifics, they're somewhat like mirror anime of one another. The organization in D. Gray-man is as secretive as the one in Claymore, the main character of D. Gray-man is a young male teen while Claymore is an older female. Both constantly reflect on the past and both start relatively unskilled and become skilled through training. Both lose limbs and then get them back. I cannot remember too well, but I am pretty sure that the protagonist of D. Gray-man became an exorcist because the monster killed his father-figure while Claymore's protagonist loses all of her family and even her later mentor to the monsters. Both have surprising powers that are restricted and unleased later.

Well, I am sure the two series would seem similar, I would say they are still pretty much different from each other. About the abrupt end you mentioned, it's because the manga is still not complete. (But then again, the manga itself went into hiatus for so long most were afraid it would be completely dropped, thankfully it's back again, and most of the released chapters are on BBT).

I am kinda glad they didn't make up some stupid spoilers to end it anyway. I am just hoping for a continuation and the real end, both in anime and manga.
(click to show/hide)Been a while since I seen it so I might be wrong but bear with me.

Also for the fact that each girl is blond, it is because of the implantation of the demon/monster blood/genes in them which transforms them into claymore. Also there is a good reason about all the claymores being girls (it's well explained in the anime).

About the organization, I would say claymore's organization is a lot more secretive and well, more darker than what was in D.Gray Man.

Well, there are pretty much different from my point though. D.Gray-Man seemed all cute, shounen-style, typical action series, but claymore has a lot more serious plot, char development, and all in all quite different than D.Gray-man.

I'm going to change my original rating. I will give it a 9/10 now since I've watched it twice over after finishing the first time. It seems to get better every time I watch it and because of the high rewatchablity, I will rate it much higher than I rated D. Gray-man although you have pointed out why they are different. I wrote my original comment moments after finishing the series without much time to allow myself to take it all in. I apologize for the premature judgement.

Anywho, I am actually reading the manga now (my first manga ever) because I want to see how it continues. I'm surprised at myself since I have not read any manga yet and I am starting now because of this series, so I guess I must have really liked it.

Galatea is the best.

Majo-kun:
I find it hard to see people talking about Claymore(anime version) and not saying that the ending is horrible. I mean, how can such a cool series 10/10 end up in the last 2 episodes with some dragon ball like monsters trowing kamehamehas around, just wtf 4/10. I had to go read the manga to be myself in peace, I'm so glad i did so.

Mistgun_Zero:
Glad you like it HeartVivan, and Majo-kun if you read what I had written, the anime series is not at all complete. And well the characters are monsters' so it was not surprising to see them go at each other like that. Well, manga does solve this little problem.

Still I wonder when the second season will come up. I am dying to see it in HD or maybe Ultra HD (well, I can always dream, right?)

HeartVivian:
I'm on chapter 87 currently. I'm happy that there is a manga to solve my qualms regarding the anime.

Is there going to be a season 2? I mean they ended it differently from how the manga left off that part.
