Need a good low fiction mouse pad and a wrist thing for the mouse.

I use Microsoft Explorer type mice.  That sloped mouse design eliminated carpal tunnel type stress in my wrist and lower forearm.  That was what that design was for, but due to lawsuit potential, Microsoft cannot advertise the mouse as either reducing the chance of carpal or decreasing the chance of getting carpal in the first place.   I used to have a slight carpal pain, but switching to the Microsoft Explorer mouse with its angled tilt for right-handed users eliminated the carpal problem for me.   That solution was actually suggested by my doctor.  I don't know if one is made for left-handed users.

Hard plastic top mouse pads have a bumpy surface.  If the tiny bumps are worn smooth, the mouse feet will have more friction on the mouse pad.  If that is the case, getting a new plastic mouse pad is the next thing.

Another way to improve the glide of your current plastic-topped mouse pad is to clean it with windex or other NON-residue spray in order to remove skin oils and atmospheric contaminants.  The bottom of the mouse doesn't have to be cleaned with windex if the glide pads are in physically good condition.  If the glide pads are dirty, chances are you will see spots of gunk on the bottom of the feet.  Simply rub those off with a rough surface such as dry paper towel or if your pants are going into the washer soon, rub the mouse on your pants leg as an impromptu method of rubbing off the spots on the glide pads.

Another way of improving the glide more, albeit for a short time, is to use RainX sparingly on the hard plastic surface.  The ultra-slickness will last a short while until something like your hands or atmospheric contaminants (combined with the rubbing of the feet) remove the RainX effect.    I have not yet experimented with use of DRY teflon or Cerflon lubricants, although I have them in my garage.  They will be up for the next experiment after the RainX effect wears off on my mousepad.

I am talking about the older non-stylish "silver" series of Microsoft Explorer mice.  Those were originally released years ago as Explorer, Explorer 2, and Explorer 3.  The Explorer 3 also had a wireless version with tilt-wheel so that you could use the wheel in four directions.   If you look closer at the silver mouse, you see it is right handed with that tilted bump which cants the entire hand at a slight angle.

As for shiny mice, I bet a lot of users have dirty moist hands, so the shine would be obscured by grimy fingerprints.
