Easy: Return it and get your money back.

I didn't buy it from a store. I bought it used from a friend for a few hundred bucks. For what I paid, learning how to use the OS, the pros and cons of this product (I've always said a mac is great for a computard) and dismantling it to see how it's put together and fixed etc. can easily be justified as the cost of tuition.

Dual boot is always an option. But hear me out.

I currently have 2 personal laptops with win 7.
1 dual boots ubuntu win 7
1 is purely win 7. Uses an SSD.

I recently received a new work laptop.
i7 w/ other decent specs sans HDD. HDD is a slow piece of shit 5400rpm one. Work laptop, unless boss pays (not likely, I'm not tinkering with it)

True, I could dual boot to learn how it works, but I wouldn't do it to use windows on a mac when I have "real" computers to use windows on.

Things I have learned thus far:

- Swiping doesn't seem to exist on this older version of OSX
- Right clicking involves two fingers on the touch pad and pushing the click button
- Installation uses .dmg files similar in nature to how we use .iso in daemon tools.
- Many programs look fucktardedly different from the windows version (Skype, VLC, Word, Quicktime)
- The bottom is totally enclosed with plastic. Thus, unlike windows laptops, slides on a lap easily.
- Supposedly, a mac battery lasts longer if you never turn off the laptop. Or at least don't turn it off on a regular basis. I just remove the battery on a regular laptop
- Internal fan spins like crazy when going to youtube... flash no likey?

Ultra_Magnus:
What version of OSX are you running?  You should be able to upgrade it, the is no security checks on mac operating systems, but they are so stupidly cheap that even I pay for them.

OSX can be a little confusing at first, although I found it rather like GNOME on linux.

Never had a game crash on my mac... more games crash on windows for me.

a few of games I have on my macbook right now:
gratuitous space battles
homeworld 2
uplink

But I tend to use OSX for getting things done rather than gaming.
