So after a bit of tinkering... I'd try venture to say that so far, the OSX experience is like dealing with Ubuntu. Sans the idea that software update is not easily integrated into the OS, installing programs is a weird thing, and figuring out whether programs are running is just straight up confusing.

At this point, minus the fact that the drivers are much better for mac on mac hard ware and also the fact that battery life is generally better, I'd say that I'd prefer linux over mac.

yea when your os only needs to support a couple dozen different components its easier then when it needs to support and function on tens of thousands of different hardware configs

Of course Mac had it's own hardware. 7 years ago they used PPC CPU. It was of course before Mac found out that having unique hardware and OS didn't make it the best and reduced themselves to yet another retailer like for example Dell.

Pretty much everyone i've ever met who owns a mac when asked what they do when they want to play games is that they dual boot windows. So my question is, if you run windows for gaming anyway, and obviously you are not a professional computer animator or in the film industry (although most of the industry standard programs for these professions are on windows and were originally designed for windows only), what do you use OSX for? Browsing the internet? I can assure you that windows does this just fine.

Well, one of the attractions of Macs is that they look pretty smexy. Not saying there aren't other computers that are, but Apple has a nice aesthetic sense. And there are a lot of little things that are nice, but you don't notice until you try to use them on another computer.

I'm still switching back to PC, though, Macs really are quite pricey.

I'm usually one of the dissentig voices when I say this, but I think the GUI in OS X looks pretty horrible, and for me it works even worse then it looks. Most of it strikes me as eye-candy just for the sake of eye-candy, with little consideration for actual function. It's the one system that even though I know how to use it, I just get angry every time I have to use it for some reason or another. It doesn't work at all for my way of doing work, and I'm pretty sure if I won/were gifted a brand new Mac, the first thing I'd be inclined to do is format the drive and install something that works a bit more sanely for me.

Different people have different tastes, and I didn't say they were the most attractive computers. That said, I personally would take the Mac Pro case. The other case just seems overdone and I've never believed in lighting where you don't need it.

As for the mice, I can't say anything. No way should that be worth $50. And through funny coincidence, I've had my eye on the R.A.T. 7 for a while now.

lol guys. It's a mac. It's intuitive for idiots but confusing for experienced PC users and even linux (the latter part was surprising. Easier to find things, but far less productive).

I'll toy with it more when I have the time. Or just give it to someone after I learn enough about it.
