1,86m tall, that is slightly above the average height for men over here (1,82m)

It's ok to be short when you're a girl.  In fact I think guys prefer short girls so they can feel taller.  Lol.  It's been tough being tall for a girl (about 170 cm) because when you were high heels, you tower over the short guys.  XD

Because North America uses it for height. I'm Canadian, and have no concept how tall tall 200 cm is, but I know how long 100m is. And no clue how to do conversions, but I know what 6' is, and no idea what... 100 yards is.

It's fucked up.

Not quite. Per Canadian Standards... as far as I can tell...

cm is accuracy. You measure stuff in cm/M etc. Once you know your height, you memorize it. No conversion required. Once you get your value, it's the value you need.
 
inch/foot/yard is estimate. You estimate stuff in inch/foot/yard etc. Easier to be used to make an educated approximate. Can be used to measure "accurately", but the need for conversion is quite stupid. 12 inches per foot for instance.
