Because North America uses it for height. I'm Canadian, and have no concept how tall tall 200 cm is, but I know how long 100m is. And no clue how to do conversions, but I know what 6' is, and no idea what... 100 yards is.

It's fucked up.

Also, lol Rit picture.
Conversions are actually quite easy, you just need a reference, something to compare the value to.

Was 186 when I was still in high school, that was two years ago, so I'm ~188-192, perhaps?

182cm. Being tall hurts (the head, as I hit it on various doors, ceilings and light fixtures).

Lol what? I am taller and that never happens to me. This is usually a problem for people that are taller than 2 metres. Unless of course you live in some hobbit house or something...

Well, maybe you all live in houses where doors are all 2 meters high. Where I live, there are some doors that are ~1.8m high, so I can go trough them all the time, but once in a while I'll step just the right way and hit my head. Low hanging light fixtures are quite rare (thankfully so), but still surprise me sometimes. Also, while I know where the dangerous spots in my house are, there are still houses of other people...

Uh, yes, 2 metre high doors are pretty standard. So it's not just your house, but your area in general. I wonder what country would that be? Are you considered "tall" in comparison to the people around you?

Lithuania. And this is mainly limited to old houses - I guess there were less standards when those houses were built so everybody built them according to their needs (as in, a smaller person will build a house with lower ceiling and a low hanging lamp fixture so he can easily change the lightbulb). Newer houses (and the apartment buildings which were all built by the state back in the day) have normal ceilings and doors. IIRC I am a bit taller than average (IIRC average male height is ~178cm).
