For the various comments about conversion, I found 2.54 to be a number I could easily remember. But, my education was extremely science-heavy, so I had to convert between America and the rest of Reality very often ever since 3rd grade.
39.3700787402 inches = 1.000 meter (1 cm = 0.3937007874 inch)
invert by 1/x =
2.54000000 cm per 1 inch
During high school I maxed out at just over 6' 1", so call it 6' 1.25" (186 cm). Stayed at that height for most of my life. But, about 5 years ago I had a general physical that measured me for the first time in about ten years. I came in at just over 184 cm, which is pretty much 6' 0.5".
In the U.S., I've always generally been considered to be a pretty big guy, in part because my physical frame is fairly massive. In top athletic condition (swimming, wrestling, mountain climbing, scuba diving, bicycling, running, tai chi, cross country skiing for 20 years), my weight stayed around 205-208 lbs. with a ridiculously low body fat. This made me seem larger (taller) than I actually was.
Then I lived in Latvia for 7 years and felt ... normal. It's like there are two completely different races there. The Latvians (especially the Latgalians) seem to all start at 6 foot, and run up to 6'6" and 6' 8" regularly. The men are built like farm workers and look like they lift horses over fences with one hand. Even the girls were near my height, with many taller. Nearly all have brown or blonde hair and light eyes of amber, gray, blue and green. Then there are all the Russian imports, most who seem to be just about or under 6 foot and nearly as wide with black hair and dark eyes.
As you age, you get a bit shorter. For example, my father was a tall 6' 3" guy all my life (same as my younger brother). Now that he's approaching 80, it's really weird that I'm almost the identical height to him.
I'm OVER NINE THOUSAAAAAAAAAAAAAA ND cm.
were talking about height, not weight.
It
is Chiya ... I just assumed s/he was bragging about tentacle length.

Onest!

In fact I think guys prefer short girls so they can feel taller.
Disagree. I prefer girls near my height, as far as physical attraction goes. Two of my girlfriends over the years were 5' 10" & 5' 11" and it was dramatically less awkward in many ways. Very little sucks so much as turning to talk to your 5' 5" girlfriend and clocking her in the face with your elbow. In person, people don't pay attention so much to such a height difference in context. But, all photos of you as a couple look really odd. I'll leave other examples for folks to imagine.
5' 11 3/4
So essentially 6'0
What the hell is that, 184cm? Decently tall for an Asian.
Technically, you can't qualify to be an Asian at that height ... Didn't the International Standards Committee set the cutoff at 5' 6" ..?
