Do you honestly expect a laptop to ever become more powerful than a desktop? More space for dedicated hardware and proper cooling will always keep desktops one step ahead of laptops.

Kovaelin:
I think you're missing the point of what I'm saying - but even though desktops are easier to upgrade, I don't think it's too far a stretch to imagine that all personal computers will be fairly comparable some day in the future.

AceHigh:
Well, car engines today are much more powerful and/or fuel efficient today than they were 70 years ago. Still a modern V12 is more powerful than a smaller l4. Same with computers. Even in the future desktops will still have more space for more powerful hardware, than laptops. Espesially with the motherboards that EVGA is making where you can install 4 graphic cards. Laptops will not be able to compete with that, not even in the future, since whatever technology laptop has, a desktop will just double the amount of hardware, get a superior coolant system and OC the whole damned thing.

It seems you're operating on the assumption desktop innovation will not happen.

That is where you're wrong, and Ace is right.

Kovaelin:
Friendly folk, you lot. I'm not looking to argue with you, and I'm not assuming anything at all. What I DID say was that I prefer desktops for my gaming, at the moment.
