However, looking at the difference between the advancements of hardware to software, I'd still say that it's quite feasible to expect to play games on very-high/ultra settings on a laptop in the somewhat near future.

To not be capable of doing so would mean that game devs would have to get their budgets in the range of tens of billions, or that we will start programming AAA games in python.

Or that new generation consoles will be released and thus no longer be the main limitation for multi-platform games allowing the devs to yank up the required specs for their games.
