Film Reviews and Analysis
froody1911:
So I got this idea yesterday. I love watching famous classic films or those with a reputation for being something special. I often find myself critiquing and analyzing them mentally in my free time, so I thought I could make a thread for it.
I propose to pick random films I have watched, give a brief introduction, review them and recommend (or not recommend) them, and also write up a theme/plot analysis where applicable.
I won't be able to do this too often, so other people can also join in with their reviews. While I don't ask you to have a serious writing style, it would be nice if you take your reviewing itself somewhat seriously.
Note: NOT ANIME FILMS.
If you're not interested in reviewing, you could read pick up some good films from here. It's a common complaint I hear that there aren't enough films that are good and interesting, or that the themes in English films are too repetitive. The problem is that the better films are usually old or obscure, or both. I can expose you to at least the ones that I have seen, or that I want to see.
So what do you think, is this thread a good idea?

if its not anime films then the options to pick from just got so tiny all of the sudden... though not a bad thread.
Edit: one film i find still lingering on my thoughts for more than a decade is "Mouse Hunt (1997)", the comedy it packs isn't lacking and its not boring either, one problem though the ending was kinda dry.
PS: you outa add in a spoiler warning on the thread title, as this whole thread is a potential spoiler fest.
froody1911:
Of course, analysis sections will be spoilered.
I remember Mouse Hunt. It was the second English film I watched in the theater. I found it funny at the time (I was 4 or 5, watched it again a couple of years later), but it wasn't anything special, was it?

I think this thread would be a good idea. If you want a good comedy,Splitting Heirs was hilarious from what I remember.
