.
I just made a post about changing away from CCCP:

http://forums.bakabt.me/index.php?topic=32415.msg4735079#msg4735079Basically I have a similar system in age & power, maybe even slightly underpowered compared to yours. Just upgraded to 2 GB DDR 400 RAM from 512 MB, but pretty much only use 400 - 700 MB on a lean WinXP install; often for light web surfing it cruises along at ~250-350. So, 1 GB should be enough,
IF you've dialed back all the unnecessary stuff that might be running.
It's what the CPU can handle. Plus, I got super lucky and grabbed a very solid video card for this system. It doesn't help with 10-bit, but does generally help the system perform with a little more snap and it should be taking a bite out of the 8-bit load.
So, give that haruhichan guide a shot. I was able to set the whole thing up in about an hour, including reading through stuff carefully.
Also, if you really want to go for previous CCCP, I got a heads' up on an archive site for software here:
> Need Help? Ask Here > Torrent/Tracker Issues > old versions of utorrent? where to DL ..?I looked around it at the time & they had a bunch of stuff ... so try searching out CCCP there. I expect they probably have it.
