I'm sorry, but 9 did have a class system.
Zidane was a thief
Vivi was a black mage
There was a knight (I forgot his name)
Freya was a dragoon (Lancer)
Garnet/Dagger and Eiko were a summoner/white mage
There was a Blue Mage.
Class system doesn't always mean you can choose between classes. It's not always working like that.
There are classes, which can only do what they have assigned.
FF7 didn't have as much of a class as well in that respect, but in general, following the weapon usage you could see the classes of each character. FF8 was the same thing. In FF6 (3 in US) there is exactly the same class system as in 9.
In FF X-2 you have a nearly complete class system, you can switch the classes even during combat but that's very limited as well (and that's a good thing) but it also made the game so much more fun.
The only way to have a true class system would be to return to FF4/5 or Tactics.
I'd rather see FF Tactics remastered than FFX which is not even remotely old enough to have a remake. But since it's going to be on a small screen of PSP/Vita I don't really give a shit about it.
If FFX lands on PS3, they should very well start making all their games for PC as well, cuz seriously, PC is a lot better platform for games these days, PC rigs give a lot more possibilities, but seeing how they did DS3 and DeusEx HR, I don't really want to see any more games from S-E on PC ever again, I didn't play any of their Lara Croft games yet, but I played the demo and didn't like it as well.
It looks to me that S-E simply wants to drop their franchise games and start new series, if so, why not just say so and start working ?
We won't hate you for that, if you do it right.
