Final Fantasy X: Remastered

Nikkoru:
I think my categorization of FFX as one of the middle-quality FFs is because I had higher expectations going into an FF which was PS2 quality - and yet other than some obvious graphic updates it was hardly revolutionary as far as FFs or jRPGs in general. Perhaps I had higher hopes than it could deliver - I did truly enjoy X-2 (at least as far as the gameplay is concerned) and XII which were more innovative. Had X used X-2's combat system I would've been squealing with delight, probably.

VII didn't have the best game design nor story of the Final Fantasy universes. However, I would say VII is the one I enjoyed playing the most of all. It's perfectly balanced between difficult and fun, main story and non-linear game play, simplicity and complexity.

I hated X-2's combat system.  It had the same critical flaw that 8's combat had; you could spam your limitbreak (the super-dress sphere transformation) in every single fight and beat the game easily.  Sure, some of the OPTIONAL bosses may have taken a different strategy + a bunch of grinding, but the main quest was easily beatable this way.

Anyways, the reason they're remastering FFX is because the process already exists and makes sense.  GoW and the ICO projects have already done this, so SE knows it is possible to merely redo it in higher resolution.  Doing this for a PS1 game, however, wouldn't make a lot of sense.  It's not going to look any better, the polygons and textures are all too low quality.  You can't "remaster" a ps1 game, you'd have to outright remake it to make it look any better.

You do realize FFVII was on PC as well, right ?

Garret02:
^ You do realize that FFVII (and FFVIII for that matter) was VERY poor conversion from console (and it didn't improve graphics) and it sucked balls so hard that most people won't even admit it exists. Face it, FF series was, is and will be a console series.

Havoc10K:
FFVII for PC had improved enemies difficulty mind you. You could play FFVII for PS1 without having even one char defeated, but in PC version, shit happens.

FFVIII looks nice though, for the most part, but the magic system was flawed considerably.
