I'll have to get back to you on the rest of the apps I feel are essential because I can't remember without looking lol.
Essential apps that you can't remember without looking at them.

There is the essence of all smartphones, right there.   ;D

Lol, true that, true that ;D

All these years of partying has made me a bit forgetful though. That's why I have a smartphone  :P

Just bought myself a dumbphone. Take that bitches!

No, but seriously, it is hard nowadays to find phones that are not giant flat bricks with huge touch screens and OS akin to the ones you use on your fucking desktop.

So my story is this, my old Nokia that is like 6 years old is finally giving up. I have to yell into my phone so that people will hear me and I can't hear a damned shit myself. The speaker on the phone is also blown somehow (could be that nasty tune I ran on max volume to annoy colleagues). Also it makes rattling noise inside when I shake it, some loose parts perhaps. So since the basic and the only function I need in a phone is failing: that is to actually call people instead of dicking around with a touch screen, I have decided to buy a new one. Took me a while to find something decent too, my friend recommended me one of those nice looking Sony Ericson phones, but I hate the inteface on them, so I went ahead and bought myself a trusty Nokia again. Nokia X3 -2.5 to be exact, nice looking, good size and shape, has buttons, has touch screen (very unnecessary bonus, but oh well...) and has a cool dark gunmetal colour.

I hope it will last for a while, because I have a bad feeling that we will only have faggy iPhones and their clones in the future.

Yeah iPhones suck, their interface makes me :(

Some Android and Windows phones can do some pretty useful stuff. However, when they're so big you can't fit them in your back pocket, something is wrong.

I'm gunna leave you anyway.

It does look pretty cool, actually. The phone I was using until I switched to the N8-00 about a year ago was the 6301, which isn't bad-looking and is ridiculously durable. I think I'd prefer the X3 over it though.

Believe it or not, "dumbphones" (proper term is "feature phones" apparently) still make up the majority of cell phone sales today. It's just that the majority of these sales happen in developing countries. The number one industry using basic embedded processors is feature phones sold in places like Africa, where they use phones akin to the ones we used about 15 years ago - 1" monochrome screen, etc. So don't lose out on hope too quickly, man. There's always eBay as a last resort, too.

Note that there is a difference between X3 and X3-2.5 which I will soon have. The first one is a sliding design, the latter one looks looks like this.

But yeah, in Norway it seems the demand is so high for smartphones, that all other ones are all but disappeared from the market. Either way, I am set for another few years.

I have no idea why but this made me laugh.  Makes me think of those plastic candy containers that look like cell phones.

This is my fear as well.  I only have a dumb phone and plan to keep it that way as long as possible.  I'm not willing to pay an extra $20 a month for a data plan I'm never going to use on a fancy device that's only going to get used for text messages and the occasional phone call.
It took an hour to write; I figured it'd take an hour to read.

Oh, dang. The X3 looks nicer imo. Could be because it has a bit of color on it.

You sound like my girlfriend. She wanted me to pick the petrol blue or the pink one, but I refuse to walk around with something that colourful.

I think I stayed away from sliding phones because I know myself too well. I know that when I am really bored I will keep sliding it back and forth until it breaks.  :D

Well, sorry for liking color. =P

The two images you linked don't look that nice though. It's just what the X3 does with the colors, I guess. I'd probably have picked the black one too if I was in your shoes.

Nice, I bet it's alot better then the old Razr lol. The old one was just a giant piece of shit but everyone thought they were so cool. Everyone I knew who had one had to re place theirs 2-3 times because they always broke. I never understood the craze over such a piece of garbage. It kinda reminds me of how when I was in high school everyone wanted a Grand Am and those who had them drove them like they were the fucking shit, but really they were just domestic piece of shit cars lol. It just amazes me how shitty products can sell so well. Marketing just does wonders for people who don't thoroughly research before they buy lol.

I'm not dissing your new Razr. It's obviously a completely different machine.

I know you asked him but I will answer as well since I also switched from Windows Mobile to Android.

I like Android more. It's open source (for the most part), far more versatile, easy to customize, way more stable (I can't express how many crashes and hangups I had on WM), and is rapidly becoming the defacto standard for mobile devices. Plus, I mostly use Linux so it just makes interacting with my computer easier.

Besides, Windows Mobile is soon to be obsolete and is being phased out. It's still being marketed in developing countries, but MS's new focus in developed countries is Windows Phone.

You mean the fact that they're rolling out Windows 8 mobile and PC software soon?

I guess I should correct myself. I forgot about Windows 8. I guess Windows Phone will be old news now lol.

Anyway, it isn't really Windows Mobile 8. It's Windows 8. Just as Windows Mobile 7 wasn't really WM7, it was Windows Phone, as it was a complete rewrite of WM. WM7 was just a code name. People still call it WM7 even though it is not WM and is the successor to it.

Windows 8 is the successor to Windows 7, however it will now also run on ARM based architecture. It is not Windows Mobile 8 but will run on mobile devices. This is a huge radical change for Windows. They are trying to merge the desktop and mobile devices into one ecosystem.

It's kinda confusing with all their numbers lol.

Lol @ using ecosystem to describe linking technology.

But yes, they are, and it could either be ground breaking or completely shit out like Vista did.

The new razr is awesome. The battery life on this phone is the best I have ever seen. Also I agree with you about the first razr. The only thing that was good about the first razr was it looked nice.

Right now I like Android better but windows 8 might change my mind.
