Rock Melt
« on: February 17, 2012, 07:50:41 PM »
So, I just installed the RockMelt Browser and so far I'm seriously loving it. It's simple, and it makes me not have to have a Facebook tab to talk to certain people. It also serves as a RSS feed of sorts. I dunno, I'm pretty much in love with it.

Anyone use it / heard anything about it? I just heard about it like a few days ago.

I'm gunna leave you anyway.

Too bad it looks like Chrome, how much can you customize that default gay skin?

Yeah I think so. It's based off Chromium so I'd imagine so.

... What's with the "really"? I don't use MySpace, Facebook, Twitter, CNN, etc. Is it really that surprising?

Out of all that I would probably only use Gmail and Youtube, and those already have extensions for them in Firefox. So most of this browser's featureset is completely useless to me (not to mention it lacks many extensions I use).

I suppose for your common person that uses all of that stuff (imo trash), it's fine. DISTRACT YOURSELF EVEN MORE WHILE YOU BROWSE!

Cute, huh?

Same here. Social sites like that are more likely to destroy your life more than anything else.

No, I don't blame the inventors, I don't put on a tinfoil hat every time I hear the name "Mark Zuckerberg", however it is the userbase that can be troublesome.

What it boils down to is you guys being superduper scared of people finding the face behind your name. That's why I got.

And it seems quite condescending about it too. Which is cool I guess.

In a way, I suppose so.

I want most of my personal "off the cuff" remarks to remain "off the cuff". It's general practice nowadays to look up information about new hires and the like. Be it facebook, blogs or just general google searches if ones lazy and the more important the job, the more vital does it become that you do so. And the less they can find about you in 5 minutes, the better.

No need, a name and general area is enough. The rest can be found on those phone-book sites that list address.

The opposite is also true and is the primary reason why I still have my fake FB account. When applying for jobs I checked up not only on the company's background, but my interviewer's as well. That way I tailored my answers and everything I say on interview specifically for the type of the individuals that interview me.
