Talking with people about anime?
Or talking to people period while on house arrest ;)
I only have people on fb I actually know or close online friends, about 60 on my list.
People with 1000 fb friends are crazy.
I also like fb for following authors/websites/mangaka/seiyuu ect that I like. Im into economics and libertarianism so I get a lot of updates from personalitys and organizations I have favorited, great for keeping up with current events and such without having to watch the mindless drivel that is mainstream news.

Well, it can be a great social networking tool if people would use it properly. Instead, its just a bunch of idiots and teenage girls. While I do have a FB account, I hardly ever even use it anymore except for when I am drunk and wanna talk shit about some of the more inane posts I see.
Well that, and the extended family tend to organize get-togethers via FB so I use it for that too.
And GoGeTa, about the post topic; I can not say that I have seen any morbid FaceBook posts, but I do see plenty of them that make me want to kill myself.

you havent seen those "look at this horrible baby that has cancer and elephantitis and (insert ugly-looking-disease)
for every like 1 dollar will be donated to (insert something here)"
or
"look at the way this guy died, like to support no-violence in (insert place here)"
etc. . .

I use FB mainly to check up on RL friends & family that I don't see a lot, and as a replacement for emailing the same. I have a small handful of people friended who I either met once or twice, or are people that I don't otherwise know well, e.g. friends of friends, people who remember me from high school 20+ years ago, etc.
I have a few rules about FB: I don't repost jack shit; I don't spout someone else's idiotic pop culture wisdom in picture form and then claim to identify with it; I don't get in arguments with the people who do post idiotic pop culture wisdom there; and I block all the damn FB games. While it's occasionally amusing to see a meme here and there, I never post them. A few authors & bands I like post on FB every once in a while, so I find some mild interest there.
What I share there is mainly a blurb once in a while about whatever boring mundane thing is going on my life at the moment, so that people I don't talk to regularly will know I'm still alive.
