transcoding 10-bit to 8-bit - how?
(1/1)
costi:
Simple question, really - how to transcode stuff encoded in Hi10P to regular 8-bit profile, preferably leaving other settings intact?
The reason I want to do this is that XBMC on linux doesn't support 10-bit encodes and the look really crappy (lots of blockiness) - and even if it did, I'm not sure whether GPU decoding would work, and my Atom CPU would most definitely fail miserably.
So the easiest solution is just to convert stuff down to 8-bit (I'm not changing my setup) - I'm just looking for the right tool for it.
Windows-based since I will be doing that on my main machine. I've tried something called Staxrip, which is kinda like a GUI for x264, but I got lost in all the options. The best solution would be something that reads all the settings from the source file and allows me to modify them for the new encode.
