The Ones Around You
rostheferret:
I'm the only one I know who watches anime outside of the biggest ones, which ironically I've never watched in most cases (I'm less of an anime fan as I suspect most here are). The same is true with my taste in music and to a lesser degree, film. The answer is to be flexible; I've sat and watched things with friends I would never choose to watch in a million years, and on the odd occasion the opposite is true, and that's the price of being social. I dragged my friends to see "Ponyo" when it came out here and went to Battle: LA with them. I frequently go to gigs alone, and every so often meet someone at the show; hell that's someone with similar music taste right there. For a lot of the other stuff I write it down on blogs or discuss it on specialist forums, sharing recommendations for bands, though admittedly these days it's getting more difficult to find people with similar tastes. Yeah, I do get that compulsion to rant about something, the trick is to find the right avenue to do it.

Most of my uni fellows aren't anime aficionados. At least from what I know because I don't have that much in-depth contact with the people in my courses.
Most of my old friends from school watched anime and we lent each other DVDs from time to time. But since we don't hang out anymore (just facebook and a phone call from time to time), that is a thing of the past.

Most of my friends are too cool for Anime or whatever.
I've had a few of my Asian friends from high school give me the weirdest look when I actually get their Anime references.
But yeah, as it's been said, I've never felt the need to share my feelings on shows with people in the real world, hence my activity on here.

I do have friends who like the same things as me :)
Nowdays i'm more into light novel and i got 1 of them addicted to it but she is still much more interested in other things.
The other 2 friends prefer shounen anime/manga more. They are not into light novel and not that into romance. :/
if it's romance , i think they also prefer shoujo manga/anime and i like harem.
