Sword Art Online [Series]
Nodame-chan:
Pay attention. In last episode Asuna said that only 500 or even less players made it to front lines. One of the biggest guild is Asuna's and she's the second by strength I suppose (she's vice-leader of that guild after all). And let's remember that Knights of the Blood Oath are said to be the strongest guild in SAO.
I don't that there are any other solo players but Kirito. Anyway we still have to see this. But really I'm pretty sure that Kirito is the strongest in SAO.
However it would be interesting to see a villain with ridiculously high stats.
Havoc10K:
Asuna said that roughly 500 players take part in the frontlines, because the rest became comfortable with SAO now after 2 years, it doesn't mean there are 500 players left. I'd say there are around 50% remaining out of the 10.000, which would be around 5000 players remain alive.
There probably are more solo players other than Kirito, but Kirito is on the frontlines, we don't know how many solo frontline players are there but being solo there is reckless so I don't think there are many of those. Kirito might be the only Solo Frontlines player, but it's unconfirmed.
I don't think Kirito is the strongest player but I would say Asuna is close to his level, unless he's just at this age that he is struck by her beauty, and just has definite hots for her. If the are at the relatively same age, she should feel the pressure soon as well.
Nikkoru:
All we've been seeing in the last 6 episodes has been Kirito slumming with under-levelled mooks as part of his character development. This making it seem as though he could easily wipe the floor with SAO in general.
I assume, because it's probable, that there isn't a substantial level gap between him and other front-liners.
Havoc10K:
There is also this: High level doesn't mean someone is good, it's the skill that counts, Kirito is a solo player so he developed skills that let him survive a lot better than normal players deal with. He is also good with small parties and small groups of allies, we don't know how well he fights with a whole frontline groups ever since we saw him with Asuna fighting the first boss.
Some people find it interesting that Kirito doesn't have cooking skill but I find it normal. He's a solo player so he focused on skills that allow him best survival odds, while Asuna is a team player so she can focus on other skills than just combat ones.

I don't know, that's true of normal RPGs where risking yourself has no genuine consequences and grinding will inevitably lead to success. Everyone still in the front lines has been fighting with their life on the line for over 2 years now, I don't think anyone remaining alive can be considered as "normal players" anymore.
Think, survival of the fittest.
