Pay attention. In last episode Asuna said that only 500 or even less players made it to front lines. One of the biggest guild is Asuna's and she's the second by strength I suppose (she's vice-leader of that guild after all). And let's remember that Knights of the Blood Oath are said to be the strongest guild in SAO.

I don't that there are any other solo players but Kirito. Anyway we still have to see this. But really I'm pretty sure that Kirito is the strongest in SAO.

However it would be interesting to see a villain with ridiculously high stats.

Asuna said that roughly 500 players take part in the frontlines, because the rest became comfortable with SAO now after 2 years, it doesn't mean there are 500 players left. I'd say there are around 50% remaining out of the 10.000, which would be around 5000 players remain alive.

There probably are more solo players other than Kirito, but Kirito is on the frontlines, we don't know how many solo frontline players are there but being solo there is reckless so I don't think there are many of those. Kirito might be the only Solo Frontlines player, but it's unconfirmed.

I don't think Kirito is the strongest player but I would say Asuna is close to his level, unless he's just at this age that he is struck by her beauty, and just has definite hots for her. If the are at the relatively same age, she should feel the pressure soon as well.

All we've been seeing in the last 6 episodes has been Kirito slumming with under-levelled mooks as part of his character development. This making it seem as though he could easily wipe the floor with SAO in general.

I assume, because it's probable, that there isn't a substantial level gap between him and other front-liners.

There is also this: High level doesn't mean someone is good, it's the skill that counts, Kirito is a solo player so he developed skills that let him survive a lot better than normal players deal with. He is also good with small parties and small groups of allies, we don't know how well he fights with a whole frontline groups ever since we saw him with Asuna fighting the first boss.

Some people find it interesting that Kirito doesn't have cooking skill but I find it normal. He's a solo player so he focused on skills that allow him best survival odds, while Asuna is a team player so she can focus on other skills than just combat ones.

I don't know, that's true of normal RPGs where risking yourself has no genuine consequences and grinding will inevitably lead to success. Everyone still in the front lines has been fighting with their life on the line for over 2 years now, I don't think anyone remaining alive can be considered as "normal players" anymore.

Think, survival of the fittest.

Which is why I mentioned Kirito developing skills that help him in his solo quest, other than that I can't think any other reason for developing critical skills as well as he did.

This title needs a PC format Game.

In the next episode or two you will see exactly why Kirito is the strongest badass in SAO.

You can't just assume that Kirito is the strongest in the game, they have only shown one of the other beta testers and he died. Anyway i sure he will come up against a rival in skill/level soon enough, out of the 10000 that are stuck in there there has to be one or two.  IMO this is the best of the season and i can't wait to see what is going to happen.

If they brought out a SAO game that is comparable with Skyrim I would cream my pants. Damn, just realised that I would probably have to learn japanese to play it.

More like out of the +/- 7500

2000 people died before anyone got out of the first level, plus the +275 that died because people tried to remove the Nervegear, and I added a little extra for the unsung heroes that died. XD

(wow, 8000 people is still a lot) and to think there aren't that many front liners compared to all those 8000.

I don't understand why so many of them are content to sit in town, yes they help in some ways but i would want to directlty work to getting out of there, and if you limit the number of vendors, shiths ect their stats will go up even further which will be better for everyone.
This will get more people on the front line reducing the time stuck in the game, but more of them will die i suppose.  So to do this they will have to set up a government that completly controlls production (do they have a government already? that would have been one of the first things they should have done).

Easy, the risk of getting killed is high. Look at the MMO's and how many people die right off the bat. Also take into account how many of the players are serious experienced players. Would you rather have a bunch of noobs helping the fight or have those noobs who will slow you down sit in the back?

Less vendors = more customers per vendor therefore vendor wouldn't have to work so hard in order to get money, he would get it even if he was bad (Why the hell would he work then, i would just take the money make some sort of crap food or sword and chill out).

And there is no need for government, they can't break game rules and i am sure Gamemaster is looking at them.

By the way one really good idea is WoW ironman challenge it proves what you said.

just ifnished episode 7 and wow, that guy has downs. . . for a moment i was hoping he would make the right move and hug the cute lady or grab her hand (given that they focused a shot on her hand) . . .I was like "YES!"

but then, turns out he's gay or something

I'd rather he hooks up with asuna. . .but he has to hook up FFS although its not pissing me off cause its not the main purpose of the anime

With how difficult the level of battles are I can see your point however for exactly the same reason everyone there knows that the final boss battle will be epic.  I would have pushed for a certain level of military conscription, have the weak ones fight boars or something easy and get them up to a level where they can actually help out in the final battle, not taking on the boss but clearing the summoned enemies that the boss always summons, healing, ect.

By the time they reach this final battle their numbers will be reduced and they are going to need all the help they can get.

So, since Kirito was constantly a solo with a one hander without a shield, I would bet that was how he learned the Dual Wield skill.

Fucking Awesome, now it's clear as a star that Asuna loves him.

Was it just me or was he half awake for a second there ? I mean, in real world ?

It sure looked like that, maybe that's an alternate way of escaping the game ? being left with 1 hp ?

So I checked the translated novels at Baka-Tsuki a bit. Apparently episode 8 was based on chapter 9 of the first novel (which has 25 chapters).

Doesn't this leave room for a ton of episodes, or at least way more than 25 (according to AniDB)? How popular is the series in Japan anyway?

It's not a matter of number of chapters but the content of the chapters, sometimes what's in the chapter can be used ofr 10-15 minutes of a 22 minute episode.

I thought that too with the flash of a dark haired girl.

As for that episode, freaking great. And yeah Asuna loves him and I think he knows it full and well now.

I just read chapter 16.5 (it doesn't spoil anything if anyone's interested).

That was unexpected.
