So, since Kirito was constantly a solo with a one hander without a shield, I would bet that was how he learned the Dual Wield skill.

Fucking Awesome, now it's clear as a star that Asuna loves him.

Was it just me or was he half awake for a second there ? I mean, in real world ?

It sure looked like that, maybe that's an alternate way of escaping the game ? being left with 1 hp ?

I thought he saw the girl who died. Well the one he wasn't able to save. But yeah, maybe you're right?? O___O

Asuna loves him, no doubt about that.

And damn you Kirito. He's so cool, and strong.. a real man :D

btw i knew his speciality is fighting with two swords for quite a while now.. >...> spoilers everywhere =_=

Dun.

I think one hefty duel awaits in the next episode. Fight for your girl, Kirito~

so you hear a guy solos a boss with dual handed swords, and you challenge him to a duel for asuna?

Well yeah Asuna said she was gonna take a break from the guild to party up with Kirito, but she's a good player and apparently good players are a commodity, so the leader doesn't want her to leave/endanger herself because if they lost her the guild would weaken. That's my impression of it anyway. Or it could be some stupid chivalrous "honor among knights" BS. Who knows?

I think it will turn out to be more of a "just needed to make sure you were actually as strong as people think" situation. That or hes that kind of guild leader who thinks because he is the gm hes really good when hes actually just being carried.

This is just a wild guess, but seeing the way Asuna acted after the boss fight makes me think that

No need to say anything if you're someone who read the original material though.

Ok, it's official, Asuna is a perfect waifu.

Also, this duel must be some sort of trap. The guy just soloed a boss and guild head thinks he can take him on? Maybe they will go all on one? Maybe some poison/paralysis or something. Something smells fishy with this. It would be funny if the result would be anihilation of the strongest guild by Kirito.

You guys are all reading too much into it.
The head honcho has 2 goals in this duel:
1- Confirming the unique skill "Dual Wield" existence and it's potential, if none of you noticed it, when Kirito used it, his HP didn't drop just from boss attacks, If i'm seeing it right, the use of the skill is quite risky.
2- Ensuring Asuna's security, Asuna is a formidable player for a team, but she NEVER soloed and since she joined the guild all her skills were balanced which gave her the opportunity to develop combat-useless skills like cooking and such, notice that Kirito has absolutely NO crafting skills, he only focused on developing combat skills which paid him well since he solo plays. GM wants to make sure Kirito can properly defend their ACE and to show everyone that not even a Guild Master, who is likely very well skill-developed, couldn't endanger Kirito. This would mean that no one would be stupid to attack Kirito.

Of course this does not count the rogue assassins guild as they already have Kirito in their sights.

This duel is more a showoff to make Asuna safe from normal assholes that would want to provoke something, like someone wanting to carelessly duel Kirito to prove he is a cheater or something, thing is I think I know why he has that skill and it has to do with him constantly using 1hander without a shield. Kirito's stats were growing in offensive way, while if he was using a shield his stats would grow more defensively. That allowed him to learn the Dual Wield.

I want that confirmed.
tho, My opinion is more like the boss deals dmg trough block.

That would require a passive skill like "thorns", it could be just that we didn't see all of the boss's attacks.

yeah, and in a lot of games, (like skyrim, demon's souls) the hostiles often do dmg. trough shield, not much, but a bit, when blocked with a sword, the dmg. is bit higher.
