Damn it.

Why do I always always always read spoilers? Honestly, I'm like a moth to a flame.

I didn't think sex would be possible within SAO, considering it's an all-ages VR MMORPG. I couldn't imagine it not being censored for sex considering how bloodless it is.

I was genuinely surprised that they brought Kirito and Asuna together in the middle (?) of the series, that defies every law of anime which mandates they drag romantic subplots until someone gets stabbed, decapitated, and sent on a lovely cruise as to make the issue moot. I was also surprised by the creepy follower dude's sudden turnaround. I mean I figured something hairy was going to go down, but it was like a minute after they set off from my perspective.

^ that law is in effect only with Romantic comedies or pure romances.
Drama is already out of the juridiction of this law.

When I came to this thread yesterday, I had no idea the new episode of this was out. Fortunately, I saw the first few words of Andrilza's post, realised some group I wasn't aware of had obviously released it already, and clicked back without being spoiled, but it'd be nice to know that if I accidentally go to the thread for a show, unaware that Horriblesubs or someone has released a new episode, there isn't a huge chance of having said episode spoiled. Especially in the cases of extra OVAs etc that get released later where I might not realise that episode even exists before reading the thread.

Hai. Will keep this in mind.

Romance plot in the near middle of the series is justified if said romance plot is not directly involved with the main idea of the plot, and judging from spoilers, the main plot didn't really started yet.

That deus ex machina pull was a real let down. One hit kill, lol.

Thanks, sdedalus83 for confirming the anime does a really bad job, was wondering about almost all of that.

OK, thankyou for your comments, I was just objecting to CappinHoff's comment that I should know about whatever special move the commander used to beat kirito just by watching the fight. (I didn't read the spoiler, and I am going to try and hold off on reading the novel/manga untill the end on season 1 at least).

I said what I said because Asuna and Kirito talked about it right before the fight. So yeah watching it you should have picked it up.

More like the beginning of the series.

I meant Nodame.

At any rate, this episode caused quite a lot of discussion, nearly 3 pages.

I'd say, this episode was a turning point, for better or worse.

They didn't show it in the episode but there is an ethical code function which you have to explicitly deactivate to do certain stuff, or else the other player can just tag you as doing as assault leading to you getting orange status etc.

Oh, and why should sex be forbidden in a full VR environment? It's not like it's the US where you have to be 18 to be allowed to do sex ;)

Common sense. Not that that seems to apply to SAO.

If sexually explicit content was really available in a contemporary MMORPG you'd be seeing naked bodies everywhere after not too long. The industry is already pretty stripperific as is.

First: SAO is an full VR RPG

Second: Sensory input is not perfect. Sure you controll your ingame body as your RL body, since the signalinput and output is directly taken from/delivered to your brain while it's blocked to the rest of your body, but that doesn't mean it's perfect. It wasn't mentioned in the anime, since they decided to not show that specific sidestory, but in the LN it's mentioned that the VR can't give you the perfect feeling of a bath, it just feels wrong. Same for other sensory input. What was mentioned was that pain is blocked, but how do you want to distinguish perfectly between pain and pleasure nerve signals?

Third: The game uses calibration data from your real body. So whoever sees you in the game naked has - so to say - seen you naked in RL. I bet many people wouldn't have a problem with others seeing their avatar naked, but their real body?

Fourth: Running around naked... sure some pubertal adolescents would do that, but it loses it's uniqueness etc after a couple times. What's not forbidden is not interesting for adolescents. And don't forget that you don't have armor on yourself if you are naked ;) Have fun with the next mob. See you in town.

So, finally: With the above, why don't just meet in RL and have sex - with full sensory input ;) - there? Sure, you can't get pregnant in a VR, but hey, ever heard of condoms?

Spoiler about SAO(you have been warned, again):

So far from the last few pages :
Sao discussion>spoiling the stor without spoilers>bickering>spoiling properly>CyberSex>More CyberSex.

I would recommend stopping any talk about future episodes and spoiling the story that will be presented in the anime later on or soon enough. We'll get there so stop doing it. If you want to keep doing it, use PMs.

That was an awesome episode! :D Can't wait for next week, this series is just getting better each time. I love how Asuna's and Kirito's relationship is advancing now, not so often you get a decent romance story in an action anime. I've avoided the spoilers in this thread so i have no idea what's going to happen next, but I'm very curious about the leader of the guild, and that time-freeze that Kirito experienced, they should explain it at some point...

I'm sorry, your argument is just too adorable to pass up. You can have my dawwww~ if you want it.

To your first and second point, that it's incapable of providing sexual release. Yeah, people won't care. They really won't. Sex is predominately a mental activity to begin with. Even if the sensations are imaginary, even if they're just going to log off and furiously masturbate in the echo of having lived their sexual fantasy, they'll do it. Underestimating people's sexual fetishes is something no gaming company would do, not if they don't want to be sued. Again SAO creators are of the Lawful Evil variety, but every other aspect of the game -- besides the whole being mentally jailed in a horrifyingly deadly experiment thing -- is consistent with what I'd expect from an all-ages MMO.

To your third point, the data is calibrated for motion purposes, they began playing as avatars before this whole debacle began. I assume the Creator trolling them all by re-configuring their avatars to their actual human selves was a simple hand-wave to prevent us speculating on whether Asuna is actually a balding middle aged man with a paunch. Who, exactly, would want to play a VR MMORPG if they had to play as themselves? Without the atrocious circumstances of having no other option available to them? Think what the average gamer looks like, and then imagine thousands of them all in cosplay outfits doing the mimicry of physical exertion. I... do...not...want.

To your fourth point, having naked children running around your game world doesn't seem like a problem to you? Especially if they were in their IRL bodies? How exactly are you measuring the maturity of the average online gamer anyways? Do you not think, assuming they could design their own avatars as with the beta and the beginning of the show, that there wouldn't be a swarm of improbably-figured female avatars jumping up and down singing nursery rhymes in the nude everywhere you looked? Just as an example, of course.

Finally, as to your last point, yeah -- cybersex doesn't happen... at all... ever.

First and second point:
Spices. If you don't understand you were not watching a recent episode at all or didn't pay attention.

Third:
It was explained in the first episode that they measured their bodies for structure purposes, it was soon after the mirror shit. If the body was measured digitally the exact measures are there, BWH sizes and even the shape of the nipples. Reason is that if you press on our breast even through cloth, you still feel the shape of your nipples.
It's irritating how you guys claim all the facts without remembering the basic things explained at the very beginning

Fourth:
I have no problem running around naked in real life or in VR.

Finally: I don't give a crap. Stop the cybersex talk, leave the future episodes alone, stop doing spoiler shit, sit down on skype and talk this out there.

I've had enough of this, stupid talk like yours is making me angry, if that's what you wanted then I congratulate you.
