Red meat/fatty foods/salt/alcohol/...etc, if it's not the only thing you eat and you don't eat it by the ton. Will not affect your life in any significant fashion.

Exercise will not make you live longer or better by itself either. 20-45 minutes of exercise a day will help you live a better life. But running 25km a day will just fuck up your joints and nothing else.

I am none of those, however my lungs are prone to complications if I get ill, since it runs on my father's side of the family. Yet I don't smoke or anything like that!
So much for health choices. Red meat is fucking good, I will not stop eat it and yet there is no guarantee that I will get any nasty conditions from it.

Winston Churchill was drinking and smoking every day, he lived until fucking 90. If your genes are so weak that you need to restrict yourself from all the good things in life, you should just die, so that humanity will purge some of it's weak genes.

Really? Everything good in your life revolves around red meat and non-diet soda? That's sad.

You can wave your apparently superior genes in my face, but no rationalization will change that Smoking, high BMI, and exercise in midlife and late adulthood are predictors of subsequent disabilities and chronic illnesses. People with better health habits survive longer, are happier, have a better sex life, and have disability's postponed until later into life.

Specific genes can increase the risks of acquiring diseases such as cancer and diabetes, some gain weight and retain it easier than others, but the risk is still there for everyone,

So my lifetime creed is and has been for many years, "Moderation in all things, including moderation."  Nikkoru, I do have a good 10 to 15 years on you, and I can tell you that my core outlook on life hasn't changed much since I was a teenager.  I've picked up a few new dreams over time and given up on some others, but my beliefs haven't changed a lot.  I have a streak of nihilism that I rarely bring up; with what I know of life today, I wouldn't be that upset if a rock hit me in the head tomorrow and killed me.  So now my goal in life is to work hard to the point where I don't have to work anymore, then just basically goof off and enjoy myself as long as I can.  But in the meantime I'm also going to enjoy myself while I'm still young and able to do so.  I'm not going to be completely self-destructive, but I'm not going to live a harshly puritan life, either.

Again, I don't see the part where I argued you have to live like a spartan. Not smoking, eating a balanced diet low on saturated fats and cholesterol, drinking in moderation, and a few minutes of your time to exercise and socialize each week is hardly self-flagellation. I know because I live it, I learned how to cook meals based on their nutrition value and taste, I have fun and exercise, and I try and embrace life.

You're working hard now for your future happiness, don't you want to be able to enjoy it?

I stopped drinking them 2 years ago. Sodas taste bad anyway.

Where did I say that, faggot? Putting word in my mouth now, eh? How pathetic can you get anyway? I clearly said that I enjoy good things in life, I didn't limit it to red meat and soda. (fuck, a diet soda is just as bad you idiot, artificial sweeteners are a fucking poison in comparison to sugar)

Some of the good things I enjoy in my happy life is food that tastes good. Some of that food is "healthy", some is categorized as "not healthy". In reality nothing is healthy for you because even too much oxygen makes you high and too much water can kill you.

First of all, there is no scientific method to determine level of "happiness in life", so it's not a measurable statistic. Second, partners with proper communication have better sex life than people who just eat diet food. As for disabilities... once again, fucking genes.

Newsflash: There is a risk to live. In fact the risk being alive is so great, that there is a 100% guarantee that you will die from it. Yes, life is a deadly disease that is killing you. That is not even a risk, it's a certainty. You know some people who have terminal diseases spend their last time doing something their really want to do, in some cases it may be wild, stupid and dangerous. The rest of us are in the same position, we just don't know how long we have left and there is no way to determine it. So why not enjoy the life to the fullest?

Oh, you learned how to cook? Good for you. I have been cooking my meals from scratch for years now and I don't remember last time buying a hamburger in a fast food restaurant. By all standards and popular consensus I am one of those people that have a "balanced diet".

However, there is a point where bullshit starts. That bullshit are those articles that say "red meat is bad" as if it's in the same category as arsenic. I remember more of those articles, one said that a study found that potatoes are bad, another one mentioned that we shouldn't eat mushrooms because allegedly they hold a higher amount of background radiation or some bullshit like that. Eggs are also bad for you according to some bogus scientists and so is milk. While raw carrots are ok, there is a claim that boiled carrots are bad for you.

And you know about soya? The holy grail of vegeterians that is so good for you? Well, it's bad for you too.

It's a fucking insanity. I cook good meals for myself, I have a balanced diet, however I can't make a decent meal if I am not allowed to use such basic ingredients that are all claimed to be "dangerous" for you. I am sorry, but red meat isn't even close to the same category as your common junk food from McDonalds. I can make fine meals out of it, especially if that red meat just happens to be a fucking whale meat which is rich in iron, vitamin A and B and very low on fat.

The last thing I want to hear is that I have an unhappy life because of my food habits when in reality the really memorable moments of my life was when I visited other countries trying their cuisine no matter how "unhealthy" it was deemed. It was new experiences and since new experiences is what enriches our lives, I would say that me trying to taste everything out there, qualifies as "embracing the life" much more than checking every product in the grocery store for the carbs and fats while being paranoid about things you may consume. That is what I call surviving, not living the life.
