Wow this is an interesting way to get sequels made for classics. I never played the original Wasteland but if it's the inspiration for the original fallout, I'll buy this in a heart beat. Especially since it sounds like they are making it old school with a top down view, full party and turn based combat.

I hope they get the 900k to kickstart this project. Interesting to see there's one guy who pledged 5k. He must really love Wasteland!

I have no doubt that they get the minimum of 900k, I mean, they've gotten 200k already and it's still 34 days to go.

And it's at 500k now! Quite fascinating to follow. 8/10 of the 10k pledge slots have been taken. Looks like they will easily make it.

Those who love Fallout, post-apocalyptic games or real cRPGs that aren't made so that even retards could play it, should check Wasteland 2 project out: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/inxile/wasteland-2
and support it. For mere 15$ you can become a proud owner of digital DRM free copy of the game.

You won't be charged unless they reach their goal (at least 900k $) so you risk nothing.

All details you need you can find on a kickstarter project site or here.

Today every 3rd hour they got an extra 100K.

Tomorrow morning they will probably have 1,5 millions. Also 2 people gave 10K... they really want to go to that party.

It's slowing down, although the most important thing is that 900k $ goal has been reached. Hopefully this amount will be doubled by the end (so the game would become even more awesome). We need to spread the word for it to happen.

The word is already spread. I found about it thanks to an article in the biggest gaming site in Norway. If other sites like IGN, Gamespot, and all "big" ones in non-english countries post an article, it will be a bigger impact, than anything we can do.

Not necessarily. There are many gamers or ex-gamers (who played only old school games like Wasteland or Fallout and stopped later because of games being dumbed down) who do not frequent such sites. Chain reaction of people spreading the word might be more successful than you think.

This is awesome. The game, yes, but the perks they're giving out for the higher pledges. Become an NPC, have a statue of you erected. Now all we need is a revolution to occur and your statue to get toppled with people desecrating it. Brilliant. I don't play PC games often, but I'll get this  ::)

Also, I've seen music artists use Kickstarter. I wonder if indie developers will start using this more (unless they already do).

Seems to me like it is going to get over hyped, and people will be disappointed. Regardless of how well made it is.  :'(

That ALWAYS happens. No matter how well made something is, some people will be disappointed.

Anyway, here's an interview with Brian Fargo by Game Banshee.

You know what would be nice? If we could also get the source code.

A lot of people have been asking for that, maybe we'll get it.

First things first, there's another official video where Brian Fargo and Chris Avellone (the writer responsible for the success of such titles as Fallout 2, Fallout New Vegas and Planescape Torment) tell us some more about the project and what's it's going to be like:

Also, it's possible now to donate via PayPal: http://wasteland.inxile-entertainment.com/pledge.php

And here's concept art:

That is still a better deal than paying 50$ for a released game which happens to be shit and they take no refunds.  ;)

Oh, don't get me wrong. I really love the idea of the game. It's smart along with the fans of the game funding it. PC games are even $60 in multiplatform cases. So $15 for an RPG that is like Fallout (according to most people here, the "good" Fallouts) AND it's tactical. I'm in.

Fallout meets Jagged Alliance and Fallout:Tactics.

Back in the old days I always thought "Fallout story and interaction with NPCs is awesome, but I hate my stupid companions who either get in my SMG fire or run into melee combat with 5 deathclaws."

At the same time when playing F:Tactics I thought "I love the combat system and cool killing animations. Vehicles can move and be used in combat and with an optional CBT mode (mix of turn based and real time) I can even change tactics to supressive fire, drive by gunning, etc... It's just pity that interactions with NPC are almost non existent, without any dialogue options or side missions like in Fallout 1 and 2."

And for both games "How I wish they could combine the best elements of those games". More than 1 decade later I think my wish has been granted.
