Fallout meets Jagged Alliance and Fallout:Tactics.

Back in the old days I always thought "Fallout story and interaction with NPCs is awesome, but I hate my stupid companions who either get in my SMG fire or run into melee combat with 5 deathclaws."

At the same time when playing F:Tactics I thought "I love the combat system and cool killing animations. Vehicles can move and be used in combat and with an optional CBT mode (mix of turn based and real time) I can even change tactics to supressive fire, drive by gunning, etc... It's just pity that interactions with NPC are almost non existent, without any dialogue options or side missions like in Fallout 1 and 2."

And for both games "How I wish they could combine the best elements of those games". More than 1 decade later I think my wish has been granted.

How much have you pledged? I'm betting you got the $55 package. :P

Nothing yet, blew my money on other stuff last month, will be getting more in a day or two. I kind of want the 50 package, but shipping is... meh. Will probably get it anyway.
For one thing, Tiff is not on any level what I would call a typical American.  She's not what I would consider a typical person.  I don't know any other genius geneticist anime-fan martial artist marksman model-level beauties, do you?

With only 2 hours left to go, the combined sums of the Kickstarter drive and Paypal have pushed the Wasteland 2 project over $3 million. This means we're going to get a modkit for the title.

Oh, and if any of you intends to and still hasn't donated, this is the last chance.

I bumped my pledge from $15 to $30. I mean, keep the spare copy for something else and enjoy the rest of the digital goodies. XD

By the way, while it's not a big secret that there is a big fanbase of post-apocalyptic lovers in Russia and they even made their own portal and site to support this project, a bigger surprise was that there were fans among the Unigine Corp, a Russian company that makes the game engine with the same name.

Now the thing is that as fans they decided to support the project by giving a full Unigine licence to inXile for free. Since Unigine is one of those engines that has great support for Windows, Mac OS and Linux, Brian said that it was one of the 2 engines that he is looking at. I hope Unigine gets picked, after all it utilizes DX11 technology and looks beautiful.

The Unigine Heaven trailer? The one that proved that tessellation is fucking sexy as hell? And they got the license to use the engine for free?

I'm so glad my $30 is going towards the development of a game that might actually be... good!

Yeah, original thread about it. I think that Unigine is actually trying to use Wasteland 2 as a promotion for their engine, not just because they are fans. Either way it would be awesome if they used tesselation effects in isometric view to make the environment to look way more detailed than it actually is. Especially when it comes to things like piles of rubble and water.

Quite honestly, I'm expecting the game to have Path of Exile like graphics (if not a little better/little worse)... so noticing the amount of tessellation that an object has in an isometric view is gonna be... uhhh... hard. I do want weather and day/night cycles, and the Unigine engine looks spectacular when it comes to sun bloom and dynamic lighting.

Yes, we will have to wait and see how it turns out. So far I am very pleased with their concept artist, it's important for modellers to get the aesthetic feel of the world they are creating and their concept art so far is making a very promising mood for the game.

Did you get at least the $30 tier? I kinda wanted the extra copy and the artbook. XD
