rule of thumb when buying a pre-built computer, always ask for the parts being put in it, you wouldn't know what shit they're putting on it.

rule of thumb when buying a part-by-part computer, always research which part you want. overkill is good, but not so good on the pocket.

another thing and this only applies to interacting with sellers or shop owners/keepers, don't ask too much question. also, start with a complicated question, if the seller replies with a "huh?" then lay low with the questions, if the seller replies with a legitimate answer then go ahead and ask, but if the seller replies with utter bullshit then walk away from the shop or find the manager and hopefully he knows better.

This is definitely not a nightmare, more of a learning experience.
Adding filters to the fans was actually my original intention, I have a computer that came from a cabinet of a tiled floored kitchen and it looked like the lint collector of a dryer.(except it was piled in cube like balls)
I will probably overclock sooner or latter, I have enough people around me who do to get a little help, but it wont be something I try on day one, it will probably take me a month before I really start researching since other studies take priority right now.
And the generator isnt something I pull out often, but when we have a strong tornado we will usually have the power out for quite a while (1 to 2 months)

Sounds like good advice.(and a little fun) If i go to geek squad at best buy hopefully the one they send to respond will have some knowledge on the subject and I wont hear utter bull. (they usually go into the back and pull out someone else they claim to be more knowledgeable on the topic after giving me basic information. such as don't try to stream HD video from this 3tb drive)
If anyone post back, I wont respond till at least tomorrow (not that I have been much quicker to begin with) Packing up my stuff such as my parents old desktop and heading home.
...There is fog behind me...well I guess I have to experience this sooner or latter.
