HD MKV TV PLAYER?
WIRLYWIRLY:
I want to buy an HD MKV player that will let me watch the MKV's i download fromt these torrents on my HD TV. So basically it needs to be able to do a few things...
1) Subtitle ON/OFF Support
2) Plays HD MKV files
3) HD output
Basically i want one that will play the MKV files i get from the torrents here (Soft Subbed)
I was looking at http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003U7MSLE/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&m=A35D5ON3677H9N but im not sure if it supports MKV's with subs and sub styles...Thanks to anyone who can link me to a device that can play these MKV files on an HD TV :D

A lot of these players can play mkv but few can display softsubs properly. Subs will lag and screen placement/typesetting will be off. On some of the lower end players, text will also be too small on large widescreen TV's with no way for you to adjust. Make sure you test playback before u buy. Alot of them will advertise as capable of displaying softsubs but you will run into the problems I described above.
Popcorn hour is one player you might want to consider. It's the only player I know of that properly displays .ass/ssa subs.

Look into HTPCs. Barebone/mini computers are offered at Newegg. You'd essentially be looking for a nettop, or you can spend a little more to build a more future-proof system. I would recommend an Intel Atom-based system with NVidia ION graphics if you're going the nettop route. A more advanced HTPC would be on the level of i3 with Intel, or quad+ Phenom IIs with AMD. These days you can build a decent Intel-based HTPC for less than $400, but of course that is variable depending on your hardware choices.
Softsubs are one issue raised in the post above. Another problem, which is growing into a bigger and bigger one by the day, is the lack of 10-bit support on dedicated players.
So, while the price is probably cheaper for a simple MKV player, it is not versatile enough for a large portion of the content available on BBT. There is a chance that a nettop also cannot handle 10-bit decoding either, at least not smoothly, especially when you jump to the 1080p level.

Soft subs are not much of an issue anymore the main issue is the 10bit files, Only players like the nixeus xs and the AC veolo can play some of the 10bit, They will suffer from tearing and things on some videos though. So not a good answer,

You can try WDTV Live Media Center it supports MKVs and also supports subtitles in many languages including languages from right to left, but it does not support the font stylings, subtitles are displayed in plain white basic fonts.
Check this one, it has a built-in 1TB HDD!

Also the problem with media players is they do not support 10-bit MKV files. They will not play, instead you will get an error message! its not because of the software.. it is the hardware that does not support it.
The only "Real" solution is to connect a laptop or a desktop to your LCD TV to play all types of files.
Use CCCP latest codec to play 10-bit anime.
