Just finished watching Claymore...
« on: March 19, 2012, 08:40:57 PM »
I didnt want it to end  :(

It was sooo awesome i was lapping it up like a dog. Will there be more? I hope so!

They could have made the end fight scene alot better though it felt rushed, i guess i have to go back to the anime to find out what truly happened.

The manga is still going and it's awesome!
I recommend you go read the manga, but if you wanna wait for the anime to continue, you're gonna be waiting a long time.

I doubt we'll ever see a 2nd season of Claymore. They changed the story towards the end in the anime and gave it an original ending. I can't see how they can retcon that and continue the manga story.

Anime ending just sucked balls. Somehow stuff that happened in manga instead gives more sense and also proceeds with an interesting plot.

They had to make up an ending for the anime since the manga was still years from being finished. I highly doubt there will ever be a a claymore universe anime again. honestly the only thing possible would be a remake which sticks very  close to the  manga.

@Osmo

manga gonna fuckin blow your mind xD

read it!

They'll probably make a claymore version of 'FMA:Brotherhood' once claymore gets close to ending.

No retconning needed then  8)

Either that or make a bunch of OVAs like they did with Hellsing. I would actually prefer it in that format.

I still hate priscilla.

I will say this for those who have not read the manga and saw the anime it is really good.  For those who read the manga majority dislike it but then again that is expected from those who did read the book. I am in this group for a bunch of things.  Overall though as a fan of anime series I do greatly enjoy the series but I was not fond of the ending. As a manga person who seen it I can only see them remaking the series like how they started with Hunter X Hunter and Berserk.  I do not expect a season 2 though only a remake if anything.

I saw the anime first, so the ending is actually pretty okay for me...
Then I read the manga and figured how mediocre it actually is.

It's been a while since I saw the anime, so I can't remember for sure..
Except for the ending, isn't it quite faithful to the manga?

A full remake is a waste of time IMO.
Unlike FMA, it's only the ending that deviated from the original.

Instead, another way to start a second season can be something along the lines of..
"That was only wishful thinking, a dream. This is actually what heppened..."

With that said, however, I doubt we'll ever see more Claymore...
It's been too long of a break already..

Its never to long of a break. Search Berserk its been more than 10 years since that anime came out and its being rebooted.  Hunter x Hunter been away for like 7 or 8 unless you exclude the ovas then it would be 10 years so if the fan base is big enough it will come back.

Remake would be pointless.

I agree that the end of the anime was a let down, so ive started reading the manga because of it.

But if they were to make a season two then they should stick to the storyline they created in the anime, i.e priscilla survives and isley takes her away vowing to bring her to her full strength, so the final fight is just prosponed, and they can carry out a new storyline or steer it back to the manga. It was released in 2007 its now 2012.

Also, looking back at the 'level' design or scenery setting i realize it is quite impressive and i liked it, though the cities could have been abit more like berserk.

But what if you don't like reading manga?
It'd be nice if this series got a reboot.

I really enjoyed Claymore. I've Googled in the past for info about a sequel and the general consensus seems to be that the anime ending deviated too far from the manga to to continue with another season. That's quite disappointing because I would really like a second season.

I haven't read the manga so I'm not 100% sure how the anime and manga differ but I imagine it would take some really creative writing to merge the current path of the anime with the path of the manga. Without giving away any spoilers, can anyone see a way that would be possible? If the anime ending didn't happen at all, I'm assuming that certain characters who died in the anime are still alive in the manga.

The key difference between anime and manga is what happened with Raki, Priscilla and Claire at the end of the anime.
(click to show/hide)

Up to around episode 23 or 24, the anime is largely faithful. But the anime had to engineer the final encounter in to bring closure to the series.

I suppose they could possibly retcon the anime ending to fit back into the manga story but it will take a lot of twisting. Certain key characters probably need to develop amnesia or something convenient like that.   :P

The easiest way to do it is just to remake the series like FMA:Brotherhood.

Claymore is a monthly manga like FMA was so it's similar there. Not to mention the manga was still ongoing while they aired FMA:Brotherhood so they could do the same with claymore. I have a feeling the claymore manga is coming to an end in around 20 chapters ( Which is about 2 years  :'( ), so we're still a minimum of 3 years before any mention of a new claymore anime ( If they even bother )

As a fan, I would like a remake like they did with FMA but does Claymore have enough of a fan base to justify it? I'm sure it made economic sense to remake FMA, but would it be worth it for Claymore?
