I guess the software ain't taking full advantage of all the new hardware.

It doesn' scale this way, as a GPU is not made entirely of shader processors. If you look here: http://www.purepc.pl/karty_graficzne/test_geforce_gtx_680_vs_radeon_hd_7970_pojedynek_kart_dla_graczy you'll notice that the card only has double the amount of texturing units and half the amount of ROPs compared to GTX580. On page 3 of said article you also have a more in-depth architecture comparison.

I don't see how a Polish site will interest much people to look through the article.
Rumors concerning the GTX690 is flying about. And it looks like two GPUs slapped together, just like the previous generation.

The images are quite self-explanatory, and then there's google translate if you really need it. Besides, I was too lazy to look for this info on an English site ;)

GTX 690. I want this card more than the GTX 680. Infact, this is the best card on the market at the moment. It packs some kick ass specs and does a hell of an amazing job playing games at an amazing level. Plus -- 44 Celsius under full load? ... ....... I want!
The price tag on it sucks thou ...
