I Am Alive
(1/1)
Takeshi:
Completed it a few days ago with two playthroughs. Had to wait for the bloody thing to get on PSN. Read the spoiler at your own risk.
(click to show/hide)Well, it's definitely too short although at its price probably fair. I just find it weird that we don't get to find his daughter and wife. They're probably dead, but nevertheless.
Gameplay is frustrating at times. Yes, it's quite annoying that there is a certain order to deal with encounters. Surprise attack, bow (if you got it), then some bullets until you can pick off the last one with, what's it called, a struggle kill?
Climbing is fine actually. I didn't have much problems with it. I should probably say that I played at normal which is probably why some (who play at survivor) might find it harder. It was a bit annoying that you didn't really know where to go so it was trial-and-error most of the time. Did get stuck in a few places where I didn't know where to climb.
Exploring isn't very encouraged and that's a shame. I would have loved if the game was more open world. Just a bit more. I found out after I had beaten the game that I hadn't gotten certain trophies. You can't really go very far without needing to get back up from the thick smoke. Maybe it would have been better if the dangerous smoke element wasn't even there? It really did limit things for me. It is quite cool in some places, but you don't really want to explore since you have limited resources, and then there's the retries to think about which are limited also. That rooftop where a woman is sitting on a bench was pretty cool though. Got surprised there, and gave up on helping her until I magically came over the spot later in the game.
I loved the last section of the game where you need to search for the kid. Really felt like a hunter at that point, picking off them one or two at a time.
Either a 6/10 or a 7/10.
Now I'm really looking forward to see what kind of game Last of Us turns out to be. :)
