Think, or feel?

I like everything else you've said, to be honest. But I don't feel that Religion or philosophy are worthless. Don't get me wrong; I'm not religious at all and I don't care much for 'organized' religion. There's really nothing wrong about trying to give positive (usually) messages like loving your neighbor but not his wife, yadda yadda.

But seriously, to the OP, I'm not so sure what are you suggesting. Discontinue education to make mids of the next generations less dangerous?
--- End quote ---
I'm not trying to suggest anything. I'd hate to say it, but I was super soul-searchy-tired last night this morning, and for whatever reason I said "I should post something silly on BBTs forum!".Education is important, even if a lot of things are superfluous.

Exactly. You all exist only as long as I am consciously aware of you.

The mind of human beings has become too powerful and dangerous to be out of control. The thing (our minds) that helped our survival the most will be what destroys us if we do not get control of them soon. >:("

Whoever made this statement obviously has forgotten what it feels like to be smacked.
--- Quote from: apriuschan on April 08, 2012, 05:26:59 AM ---Leading into this: "More than minds: The mind is the king of this world. Just about all institutions, schools, businesses, and governments promote and support the mind. This is all fine and good, as long as we know that we are more than our minds, that our minds are just a very small and temporary part of us."
--- End quote ---
Because there are things in this world that are both interesting and not require mental cognition. Oh wait.
--- Quote from: apriuschan on April 08, 2012, 05:26:59 AM ---I find it interesting to say the least, and it does make some good points. There's one part of me that feels "This is just a nonsensical pile of...nonsense." But the other welcomes some of the thoughts put into it.
--- End quote ---
It's useless sub-par nonsensical pseudo-existentialism crap, so the point itself is less than nothing.
--- Quote from: 1pwn3djo0h on April 08, 2012, 05:40:43 PM ---And yea, this is going to be chaotic, as elvikun said. Discussions about "Truth" is one of those topics that doesn't bear fruit nor satiate the debaters. It only gives birth to more skepticism and pessimism.
--- End quote ---
Pessimism, indeed. Truth, in it's clearest form, is as simple as a "yes" or "no" to a simple statement, not some random person's life-story or the mental diarrhea of speculation posed as an 'answer' to someone's unstructured curiosity.

Religion is technically useless if not completely deprecated.
Philosophy, if by the literal meaning coming from the word's history, is a virtue. But as field it's generally a utter pain.

--- Quote from: AceHigh on April 08, 2012, 05:55:29 PM ---However it is completely counter-productive, since by attempting to understand something that isn't there will only lead to ludicrous babble and conspiracy theories based on wishful thinking. Instead, you better use your brain's processing power to strive towards real enlightenment through gathering of knowledge and understanding of actual real things and facts.
--- End quote ---
Absolutely it is. I can't agree more. That's why, like what I said before, I try to imbibe whatever I can in order to "live" my life. Despite the inexistence of "real" knowledge, I am trying to make do with what I have. Like if you're a father providing for 12 children, then you just really have to make ends meet; sleep with your legs against your chest while the blanket's short. I'm getting by, so I guess there's no problem.

Hahaha! Lulz.

I feel that the mind has unlimited potential and if used properly most our troubles could've been solved opinions aside. Though with most thing when you progress in one area something most suffer which happened to be how we carry our self in the past.
