As if Germans are the only ones who use the G3...

Everybody else almost always use AKs and ARs, so not a bad odds to assume that He is German.

Then I will assume you are an American because of that stereotypical view of yours. In Europe the vast majority of national armies have a standard issue rifle that others don't. If you have watched Upotte, you should have already figured as much.

Not a bad bet, but I am not American. ;D
A lot of countries have homegrown rifles, but the AR and AK variants hold the lion share of the market, even those who have homegrown rifles still use one of the two big as service rifles.
The snob factor is getting pretty high here, dudes don't get your panties in a knot.
AceHigh:
No, they don't have to be homegrown, not for smaller countries anyway. What I meant is the peculiar thing where service rifle may even be made by the same company, but different countries use different models as their standard rifle. The cold war and AR vs AK dominance has long since passed. Today diversity is the keyword on small arms market and it's a wonder that we don't see even more diverse ammunition types as well.

There is a diversity in small arms models currently, but the AR and AK are still most widely used, my country armed forces use AK rifles, everything from AKM, AK-47 and AK-74, some special forces in the armed forces use FNC and M16 because they train with Americans but it is a minority.
Just go through the list below and most countries have AK and AR variants among their service rifles.

You can't have more diverse ammo types because of standardization , both NATO and Warsaw Pact, makes logistics much more easier.
