And I have next to zero interactions with Irish people, so I wouldn't know. Although Neuffies are pretty similar, and I run in to those sometimes. They always make me laugh.

Friends using this sweetalk are just wrong. And frankly, two men calling each other bros all the time are just as bad.
And yes, I don't find it cool even in more intimate relationships. We have names. Shorten them if they are long, but all those sweets and plushies are just upsetting my stomach. But then again, I'm a bit harsh, I don't even like people shortening my name from 7 to 4 characters except for very limited number of people.
And some Irish are overkill, but once you find non-ginger decent looking one with the accent levels just right, it's simply sexy. I really hate when I can't explain why, but... It is how it is.
