Sorry, bad wording then.
Yes, but now we're on the argument of "the ION box is awesome unless you want to watch 10bit stuff," which was the point of the thread.
The point of the thread was "what to do with 10-bit stuff when you don't want to buy a new computer".
Essentially going right back to "the ION box is useless." and "You're better off getting a better HTPC."
The world does not revolve around 10-bit anime. And for everything else, an ION box is awesome.
I don't care the least about buying a new box just because of a fad that will be dead and gone as soon as fansubbers find a new toy.
actually, buying something thats border-line "enough" is never a good thing, because once something better comes out that thing you've thought thats "enough" is no longer "enough", thats why you get something with a margin, where research and planning dictates how big of a margin you'll need.
in your case you didn't even opted to have a margin at all, since ION is border-line able to play 1080p.
if you've thought about it for a sec there a SNB G530+ITX mobo+GT520 would've costed you about the same with a huge margin for improvement.
if you're gonna argue about power consumption against this setup i've mentioned then you aren't looking at reviews carefully.
and if you'll argue about the noise this'll give off then you aren't looking at the market carefully, theres a whole variety of passive GT520, and the G530 can be passively cooled as well.
well thats what i think anyway.
Edit: oh and expect the up coming new profile or format to not be supported by current and/or old hardwares, what was it again? H.625?
