To say humans can really survive without meant you'd have to do complex study spanning over few generation, and I don't think anyone did that. Diet lasting limited time on one person can't really prove or disprove anything. In theory - yes very much possible, long-term effects unknown. I actually believe it is possible.
I admit that "washing" is a bad example, example nothteless. If you don't eat any meat prodcts will you die? No. Possible negative health consequences? Yes. Goes double if you don't watch what exactly you eat.
If you never wash will die? No. Possible negative heath consequences? Yes. Social consequences, well, I don't think there were any in the time where people led that kind of life. Injury and infection hardly applies, as it's not a directly caused by being filthy.
If you do something for amusement, it means it amuses you, when something amuses you, you find it to be amusing. Killing animals for amusement and to find killing animals to be amusing is the same. If you say "enjoy" it sounds even more extreme.
That aside, following this line, if you buy a a toy from china and enjoy it, you enjoy heavy child labor / forced prison labor in many cases. If you live in certain houses you might just as well enjoy illegal workers and their sad life.
This is incredible guild trip logic. No matter what you do, it will sound real bad at the end. I mean for crying out loud, if you chew a chewing gum, you enjoy killing cows and if you wash it down by a good leaf tea you enjoy exploiting of eastern tea farmers.

Cain killed a fish. It's the grand cause.
