I think the lion's share of the problems the United States are facing are a result of corruption, negligence, extreme partisanship, and painfully inadequate competency on the part of the legislative branch. For as long as I've been alive at least.

I'd say that sums it up pretty nicely.  If I ever end up being able to rid myself of the ball-and-chain that I call my house, I'd consider moving to Canada, except for that whole snow thing you've got going on up there.

Mexico is all nice and warm...  :P
For one thing, Tiff is not on any level what I would call a typical American.  She's not what I would consider a typical person.  I don't know any other genius geneticist anime-fan martial artist marksman model-level beauties, do you?

Global warming is solving that particular problem. I didn't have to shovel my drive way for the whole winter, and I was wearing shorts and t-shirts in March. Plus, no hurricanes.

You might consider waiting until Harpor get out of office as he's just as bad as your politicians. Hopefully, that will be before he's done screwing up everything. Never thought one day I would think with nostalgia of the time Jean Chrétien was in power.

Looks like it's going to be Paul Ryan after all.

Looks like Romney's electoral strategy is going to be focused on winning Wisconsin.

Well, Republicans just lost the race... AGAIN.

How do you know, you ask? Well Ryan has the whole "Medicare" reform that makes it so that it's a "Voucher" system...

Or just coupons. You have some savings on COUPON healthcare.... Old people (the highest percentage of voters by age group) will not like this at all.

Old people won't like any changes on anything.

I hardly think Paul Ryan on the ticket is a loser. I think he will be able to outmatch Biden as far as facts go. Ryan just probably can't keep up with him when it comes to playing the victim cards.

Does anyone even care about Biden?

Ryan is far from the worst possible choice and is actually near the top - since the best possible candidates wouldn't run on this ticket if it came with a million dollars.

We don't care about the Vice President a year or two years ago... but we care about them NOW.

Ah, that douchebag.
Aren't they all?

You're forgetting the sacks of crap, and batshit lunatics. Ryan feels like a douchebag to me.

He's not a terrible choice insofar as Romney's campaign of avoiding taking definitive stances on issues and criticizing Obama was unlikely to go anywhere. So, now he's adopted Ryan and his budget and accompanying political views as a central issue in his campaign. Obama is still the heavily projected winner and as time has gone on that projection just gets more and more likely. Romney needs something... anything... to change the flow of election.

This isn't like '08, McCain was a strong candidate -- who I think would've made an outstanding president had Karl Rove not existed in 2000 -- and while probably would've lost regardless of Palin, that choice simply drained him of credibility among the intelligent voter.

Romney doesn't have much in the way of credibility to begin with, his willingness to shift positions based on political expediency and his liberal-styled government in Massachusetts makes it hard for most people to take him seriously. His value is that he's not an idiot or openly offensive, and "looks the part". What he thinks he needs is someone who's more... impassioned... to actually make anyone give a damn about him or his campaign beyond "anyone but Obama" style politics. Which doesn't really work with moderates, as evidenced by Bush.

Is it me, or does the president look like he is formulating on how to have congressman Ryan eliminated. a la Chicago style???

I'm not particularly offended by Romney, he's more of an empty-shirt than anything. If I believed anything he said I'd probably have a different opinion.
