Dragon's Dogma
« on: April 16, 2012, 06:52:33 PM »
No one exited for this game? The more I see and the more I am interested in it. It looks like a mix of Dark Souls and Skyrim. I hope the combat will be as fun as it looks.

A live stream of it on Gametrailers, probably gone by the time people read this.
A demo is coming for it soon. Though no PC version. If you buy the game for 360 when it releases you'll get a demo for Resident Evil 6. Makes me a bit sad since I was thinking about buying it for PS3.

I felt like it was missing a massive opportunity by not being fully multiplayer.

Is this game for PC as well ? cuz if not, well, there's your answer for why not enough hype.

I've seen great titles for consoles that pretty much are only challenging for console players, once they land on PC, guess what?

Yup, putting aside the usually bad port, Console games on PC are dead easy.

You just know when Dark Souls hits PC the entire PC community will push up their glasses and say, "Tch.  This game is way too easy.  Console gamers are noobs."

Yup, as sarcastic as that was it's actually right there.
I know we have the keyboard and a mouse, but PC gamers actually use tactics as well.

Yup, would be awesome to go on adventures on your buddies instead of three party members, I mean, you could in LOTR:WITN. A BakaBT group would've been awesome. Yeah, PC would've opened the possibilities a bit.

Regardless, will try and enjoy it to my fullest.

The game seems kind of like Shadow of the Colossus meets Skyrim and Fable, whicih is encouraging.

Looks more like monster hunter without multiplayer to me.

After having watched a lot of gameplay, toying with char creation, and playing with the demo, I can say that I am REALLY looking forward to this game.

It looks like Dark Souls with a more open world.

I really like how the night sections are just that... like fucking night! I'll think about getting this for the time being because I really want to get Endless Space but my wallet is already hurting. :(

The game looks pretty damn good and with some really cool gameplay but unfortunately its made by Capcom and will have DLC on the disc =/

Maybe they will change some day and I would consider giving them money again

I think the one justification they've been using with on disc DLC (which just makes it "hidden" content) is that players who didn't buy the DLC wouldn't have to download an update with the character models when playing online with players who did buy the DLC.

FOR WHICH I CALL BULLSHIT. I call bullshit because I have not gotten one game that didn't have a day one update to 1.01 version or something. Some were small (~24 MBs or so) while some questioned why they left out so much content (I forgot which game, but it was like a ~250 MB download!). So no, once they released the DLC, they should of just updated the game as well for everyone. OH WAIT, that violates Microsoft's terms for releasing a game on their system (requiring a player to have a harddrive/memory system cannot be a requirement for ANY game) because they had the bright idea to sell consoles without memory storage. So because of one dumb company (who for some odd reason has more marketshare because people are duh-duh-duuuhh) the rest of the videogame industry has to play to, for lack of a better phrase, the lowest common denominator.

I don't mind the installs on PS3 games, I just mind it when design decisions bleed over to the PS3 version because of Microsoft's mistakes in the beginning of the 360's life. You know what? I'm glad your Xbox 360 users have to endure multi-disc games like LA Noire and Max Payne 3... why? I might be a little bitter about getting the short end of the stick when it comes to some multiplatform titles... but I take solace in the fact that I get some better exclusives. :)

/rant

Since the game isn't multiplayer, I don't think there will be any on disc DLC... and if there were... it will likely be costumes/gear.

*snip*
Mass Effect 3 Day 1 DLC and more.
(click to show/hide)

It starts to become common practice to have a game in bits and leech off the money from players to unlock stuff.
So it's nothing new to have DLC already on disc, on consoled, you can't do shit about it, on PC however, as you can see in the spoiler, if you can find a way to unlock it, you will.

If you want to hate a company for hiding content only to leech cash from you later, stop supporting them.

They're going to do it anyways.

The question is just whether you want to have to download it to your harddrive after the fact, or have it on the disc from the get-go.

By the way, did you know that Griffin from Berserk's sword and armor will be in this game?

Sorry, but I don't buy any promises any gaming company makes. They always say A but they still do B. So i say FU.
