Just get what you need for now.

wait, just getting "hot"? which is getting hot? the CPU or the GPU? the motherboard?

because if its just the CPU you can just buy a 40$ aftermarket cooler and it'll cool it well enough, same goes for the GPU or might as well upgrade the GPU, the motherboard would be a problem though if you're on a legacy system.

edit: also your system might just be getting dusty, clean it up. and add some fans, this might also help.

My GPU. I don't think you realize how old my computer is. When I bought it, DDR3 was hardly on the market.

kitamesume:
yet it still uses PCI-Express, having an old PC is a no issue with these ones, the latest GPU does support backward mode so long as its the same socket (PCI-Express).

which means you can swap the GPU with a better one that's gonna be transferred to the future main-rig, this'll be a win-win situation since you fix your current issue while getting to wait for the up coming product line.

edit: this is what i'm currently doing by the way, i bought a HD7950 that swapped my HD6570 and a new case and PSU to house the new GPU.
the plan is to boost over-all performance with minimal parts swap while waiting for the main anticipated product line (Haswell), if ever its a disappointment i can fall-back to ivy-bridge with expected price drops.
the current place holder is an i3-2100 by the way, its quite slow for my current needs and is slightly bottle-necking my HD7950 too.

Have I not made myself clear? I'm buying, very soon. Were I to wait for "the new line", I would be constantly waiting.
