I meant just with modern games in particular. Older ones are definitely an issue.
But PC games have been on largely backwards compatible and non-propriety media for a long while now. While you're unlikely to have a floppy drive on a modern computer unless you go out of your way, the CD-ROM is coming on 30 years old and still largely supported.
Additionally, PC games are a lot more likely to be available in purely digital format, and more likely to be archived in any case.

Once we master 3d optical storage, space will be a null point for current gen level games. The most advanced current lab samples can already store tens of terabytes. Once the kinks are ironed out, you could expect to be capable of holding the entire steam library in the palm of your hand. Such a system could easily archive ALL games.

Someone posted on here that ps3s top out at 320gb O_o No they don't. Mine has a 500gb hard drive in it and I plan to upgrade it to a higher one once I can get my hands on a bigger 2.5" drive.

That would be awesome. Seriously, it would be kinda cool to just hold it in your hands, no?

500 GBs? Let me guess... you bought it from Gamestop? The highest storage limit that SONY makes is 320 GBs while Gamestop refurbs bad PS3's and puts a 500 GB HDD in it to resell. I own a 160 GB model and it becomes moot to own a 320 GB or more hard drive because I can just hook up an external hard drive (of the two of which I own... totaling way more than any 2.5" HDD you can fit in there to fit the specs). Having 500+ GBs might be useful when I lug the PS3 around to friend's houses/etc.
About the Steam library... yes.. I would like to hold trillions upon bajillions of datas. XD

a way to pay less is to just get capcom games wait till the "Ultimate" or "Super" comes out ;D
