Resentment.
« on: April 28, 2012, 10:15:14 PM »
So I was having a conversation with a friend about this last night, so I thought I'd ask here, see if I can't get something interesting out of it. I kind of doubt it... but anyways.

Did/do you resent your virginity?
I did never did, but I wasn't really in a position to, I had sex at a young age so I pretty much went from not really interested to no longer a virgin. (Oooo look at me bragging. Fuck you, I'm not, it just is.) So whenever conversations come up like this I never really know what to think. I know a few of my friends do or did, but at my age it starts to make sense to. It's the norm or whatever to have lost it at this point.

So, what do you guys think?

I'm gunna leave you anyway.

I'd really like to meet that friend you have those conversations with. That would be fun. Wonder what superpower he (?) has.
Or maybe it's the "I have this friend and..." scenario, where you just don't want to admit you get the ideas all alone?

I didn't really have the chance to resent it either, but as I've said before, it's hard to really care unless you get all hyped and anxious about it. Which many peple actually are and it's at least partially caused by the current "culture".
If you resent virginity, you basically resent yourself for not being able to lose it, which may lead to depression or frustration. So I guess it's better to say people are "depressed" about it. Low self-esteem. Bad, bad.

Metro: Your really obsessed about this virginity thing, aren't you?

OT: I wish I saved myself a few more years, but oh well. Better to be done with it as fast as possible, eh?
The problem with the world is that the intelligent  people are full of doubts, while the stupid ones are full of confidence.

This is a different friend from last time.
And yes Elvi, they actually exist, the conversations I have with myself are much less profound, and equally as fun.

Gold it was actually her that brought it up, I really wasn't expecting it at all. Elvi, you make a good point, I guess if you're not confident enough to like yourself regardless of your sexual status that's a bit of an issue. I think that now it's tied to status, the more sex you have = how cool you are. Which honestly I think is a bit silly, there's not a real way to define "cool". Or swagger or whatever you wanna call it.

Why did you wanna save yourself? I'm curious.

I'm gunna leave you anyway.

I don't really resent being a virgin. I can have sex at anytime, but you're only a virgin until the first time you have sex. Not that I think virginity is really worth holding onto, but I'd at least like to make sure my first time isn't just some half-assed, half-remembered fling that was brought upon by ingesting too much alcohol at a party.

But again, nothing to lose unless you get hyped up about it. Applies twice if you are male, because then you lose nothing quite literally.

The frustration about being virgin really is quite stupid and possibly even dangerous. It may lead people into the line of thinking "Why? Because I am ugly/stupid/whatever. I hate myself" and quite frankly if you don't like yourself, you can't expect other people to like you. And it will go on and on sliding deeper into the pit. It's clishe but it's also true.

Simply have sex when the situation is right and you want it. The "you" is the point there. The mentality now is that the sooner it is, the better and the cooler you get. Doesn't matter whether the time is at 15 or 25. This is really just an artificial construct that makes many young people very frustrated.

Edit: Yes, edit.

How many virginity threads are we planning on having this month?
For one thing, Tiff is not on any level what I would call a typical American.  She's not what I would consider a typical person.  I don't know any other genius geneticist anime-fan martial artist marksman model-level beauties, do you?

The grammar lols lead to genuine lols if you focus, imo.  :D

Anyone making you read it? No? Good, glad there's no one that stupid.

I never said I was interesting or mature or anything did I? If I did, I apologize, I'm really not. If you don't wanna read it, then don't. If you do, sweet.

Or just flame, that's fun too :)

I'm gunna leave you anyway.

Usually, isn't it not being a virgin is what some people regret?

Supposedly, being a virgin is special... you know, someone pure..

I've even pretended to be one twice already.

I still love you. Keep this thread going. Anymore virgins or non-virgins should post in here.

I seriously hope you're a girl, otherwise what's the point?
And if there is a point, please lemme know this could be interesting. I also thought your thought was true, but I've actually talked to several people that disagree with my previous hypothesis. I understand that my sample is neither sizable nor representative, but it's still interesting.

I'm gunna leave you anyway.

Not much point to it...

Except that sometimes a lovey-dovey, fluffy and bubbly, cheesy romance is actually fun.
