Better story composition and better introduction to characters. There are also 4 OVAs you should get to watch. I think you should watch them before the second TV series? I can't remember.

Watching the OVA series before second season would prepare you to understand the story better but it spoils quite a bit. I recommend watching the OVA series after second season, to have important explanations given to you.
It's my recommendation, but do what you want.
