What's your daily commute like?
« on: May 05, 2012, 06:44:55 PM »
-Wake up at around 5, I like to take my time getting ready.
-10 mins drive to the bus stop, bus leaves 6:30 to uni which is about 130 km away, 2 hours ride.
Sometimes I go by car.
...I got used to it.

lol, the magic of Florida: no water bill.
the water is pumped from a refilling, underground well.

but apart from that, 45 minutes feels like 5 when you are half-asleep.

Wake up at 5:30.
Take a shower, make myself breakfast and a snack for the day.
Leave for the bus stop at 6:55 Get there by ~7:07, laze about till the bus comes at ~7:09, read something while on the bus till ~7:45, and walk the remaining 10 minutes to the faculty.
Chat with my friends till the lectures start.

Wake up, usually at around 5 past whatever hour I need to get up that day.
Get up, shower, and aim to be ready by around half past, though I'm often a bit late.
walk across the campus I live on, I'm on the far side so it takes ~10 minutes.
walk down the hill to Aberconway building, where I have my lectures - this takes ~5-10 minutes, and so usually get there any time between quarter to and five past.
lectures start at ten past the hour, every hour.

The actual times depend on when my first lecture is that day - I get up around an hour before it starts.

Wake up at 8:00, go back to sleep, wake up at 8:30.  brush teeth, comb hair, get dressed, drive 5 minutes to work by 9:00 (while laughing at the people who have to deal with traffic to get into the city).  Not too bad if I say so myself.

- Up by 19:00-19:30 (I have an alarm but I often wake up earlier), check messages on PC and get dressed.
- Breakfast at 8pm, last snatch and grab for my stuff and I'm out just after 8:30 for a brisk walk to the bus stop (arrives 20:43... or is supposed to. Usually arrives closer to 20:50).
- Bus arrives at my stop 10mins later, 6 minute walk to the bar.
- 12 hour shift from 9pm - 9am.
- Walk back to the bus stop, depending on the day/time I get out, I'm usually home by ~10am.
- Sit down until ~11am, the usual morning cuddle with the dog (he gets upset and whines now if I don't)
- Bed Tiem!

Switching my sleep patterns is the fun part, how to go from nocturnal to normal and back again with a 2 day gap. I either stay awake from 7pm until 10-11pm the following night (sometimes I can get a couple hours nap at work ^_^) as you get a second wind of awakeness around the 24 hour awake mark, else I'll come home as usual and set an alarm for about 3pm. You feel like shit at first on four hours sleep but wake up with some coffee and a couple of hours. I do this if I plan on going out for the night; you can't be sociable after 30 odd hours, it just doesn't work. Then back again, just nap from 2-3pm until your normal time. Et Voila!

it seems like if you showered like a man you could wake up at 6 take a 5-10 minute shower get dressed and eat and be out the door by around 630

Wake up around 430-530 depending on work for the day
get up around 545-630 (yes it takes me another full hour of my alarm going off to actually get up)
take time to wake up enough to hop in shower around 15 minutes before i have to leave.
Get dresssed and leave about 5 minutes after that
45 minute - 1 hour drive to work
work roughly 10 hours
drive home
figure out what to do for the night

Going home: ~1:20 [h] avg.

Usually goes like this:

16:40 : leave and wait at closest bus stop
if missed that ^ one go to other bus stop by :50
if missed that ^ one go to the first mentioned stop by 17:00
17:15 : arrive at bus change
17:20 : get into express bus ('cause normal ones are shit)
17:35 : arrive at subway station and go down to the train
17:50 : interchange station
18:00 : streetcar starting point
18:15 : get off streetcar
18:20 : arrive at home

Fastest time: 1:10 [h]
Slowest time: 2:30 [h]

MOrrrnings are evil, the most evil thing ever
I have to draggggg myself out of bed at 9 in the morning and I still think that is way to early ;(

Commute to school: Drive a few miles along the 101, go through Las Virgines Canyon, Drive a few miles down the Pacific Coast Highway, voila! At school, almost an hour later.

Can't wait until I have the money for a motorcycle... You would not believe the traffic that the dumbest things can cause on a 2-4 lane road.
