Self Destructing Harddrives
bork:
You do a external erase, the drive will be permanently non-functional. Besides erasing the data, the servo track will be lost and with that gone the drive will not work.
Just a note on why the overkill on information destruction. In the past, I have dealt with the destruction of data and the only sure way usually involves extreme methods. An example is how paper is destroyed in a three step process:
- grind it until it can pass through a fine mesh screen as paper dust
- process the paper dust in a water solution to make a paper pulp
- burn the paper pulp in a incinerator
Destruction of computer parts normally involved temperatures to reduce them to a slag which then went on for further destruction processing...

Might be useful here. FYI, hentai is considered child porn and very much illegal. Bible black will net you 12 years in Jail. Fanservice like on Zero no Tsukaima is considered child abuse. I've never heard of it actually enforced tho. This might be useful if they come in larger capacities. Do they sell thermite blocks that you can put on your topmost drivebay?
Between R-15, Zero no Tsukaima, Imouto... (that anime with the rediculously long name), etc. I'll probably go to jail for life if they find my bakabt stash.

Philippines. Congress officially recognizes Hentai as Child Pornography. They even passed it its own bill so it doesn't have to be mixed in with the regular child porn.
