Dingoo A320
« on: May 21, 2012, 10:58:06 PM »
The Dingo A320 is a handheld emulator that plays several
kinds of systems and I was thinking of getting this.
The reason why i haven't gotten it is because

1. The Reviews are kind of old and i'm not sure if they still
hold up to what they say
2. There might be something better
3.does it have problems that i should know of?

Well I came here to ask you guys' opinions/recommendations on this product
Should I get this or something else?

Well a PSP would be nice but I haven't seen a game that would interest me.
While the Dingoo A320 could play games from NES, SNES, GBA, and Sega Genesis.

Why not just DL some emulators for your phone?

Yep, Tamarin's link looks legit and affordable.
For one thing, Tiff is not on any level what I would call a typical American.  She's not what I would consider a typical person.  I don't know any other genius geneticist anime-fan martial artist marksman model-level beauties, do you?

So can the PSP if you mod it...

Another great option would be an Android handheld.

I think this one looks pretty cool http://www.amazon.com/Zuweiyu-Android-Console-Screen-Support/dp/B006WX06EE/ref=pd_sim_sbs_p_1/192-0679074-4572748

It has Android 2.3 which should give you alot of flexibility. You won't be locked into the emulator provided by the manufacturer and will be able to experiment with various emulators to find the one that gives you the best performance. It only has three stars but the only review they have is from a disgruntled customer who seems to have received a bad unit. There are already guides to root and overclock it online. Something along these lines should even let you play N64 and PSX games.

Plus, you can play GTA III on it running http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HqrkxQ0AjZo

There are other Android portables like this that may be even better. I'd look around.

Or just treat yourself to a new phone. I have an HTC Desire, which is an Android phone I got around 1.5 years ago, and that can play GBA, GBC, NES, and SNES games with ease. Probably more which I haven't tried.

Any vaguely recent Android phone should have the power to emulate any of those classic consoles, and I *think* there are even N64 and PS1 emulators available, although I don't know what (if any) devices have the power to run those well.

Phones are really only good for light gaming. For serious emulation a dedicated device is the most efficient approach. Its not that modern Android phones lack the power to emulate well but rather virtual controls pale in comparison to hard buttons. RPGs and games with relatively few and simple controls may work well enough but complex games and games that require precision will be awkward to play.

The only real advantage to using your phone is you don't have to carry a second device around.

That is true. I haven't actually tried any platformers or the like on my HTC, so I can't really comment on how good they are for those types of game. I've never had any problems at all with the types of game I play though (mainly the RPGs and TBS games the GBA was so good at).
