Hi, me again :3
Anyone tried generic remotes for PCs? Like
this one for example. How do they work?

I once had an
Antec Veris remote, it came with a software that allowed me to assign keys (or combinations) from the keyboard to the buttons on the remote. It was perfect, the player I use allows every command to be assigned to keys or combinations.
But I don't expect generic ones to have any software. So, how do they work? I see they come with "predefined" functions, power on/off, buttons to launch applications and even a pad to work as a mouse. Can I use those things for something else?
I don't want applications nor any mouse. Only to have EVERY button on the remote to be assigned to a key on the keyboard. Nothing else. Is there any software to do that? I see that there's
WinLIRC, but it doesn't seem to work with any generic USB stuff out there and I don't see how to bind remote buttons to the keyboard.
I'm asking because the Antec receiver was poorly build and the connections in the little PCBs (it has one with an USB connector and another with the actual receiver and a chip) de-soldered itselves. I don't remember causing any shock to it, as it simply stands on the desk

. This happened long ago and since then the parts were lying around. I may try to get someone to solder it back, but I doubt it still works. Plus, I'd like to have a bigger remote with more buttons.
As this shitty country is restricted on almost everything (and when it's not gov restrictions it's son-of-a-bitches importers that raise prices without reason), the only thing available are all kind of cheap generic remotes, like the one linked above.
