video editing
armitron:
I want to start making AMVs using mkv files. I'm having a hell of a time trying to do so since I have windows 7 64 bit. I've been trying to get virtuldub to work, but no success. Anyone here into doing stuff like this?

1. Buy a Mac
2. Get Final Cut Pro 7
3. ???
4. Profit

I don't know how in the world eveyrone and their mother can be putting out AMVs on Youtube when it's this complicated just to even start to edit. It was so simple back when I had Windows XP. I just used VirtualDubMod to split the MKV file to video, audio and subtitle, then edit from there.

It might help if you elaborated what's up with virtualdub or any tools you're using, otherwise you'll just by googling.
vuzedome:
mkvtoolnix does everything you need for now, splice them up and extract them out.
Then you can dub it with your virtual however you want.
I know, I know, that sounded silly, but I know what virtualdub is so I'm not just flinging dung at your face.
