Final Fantasy XV
« on: May 31, 2012, 03:44:17 AM »
Rumor Link + leaked video for proof

I have not played an FF game since 13 (and I couldn't even get past the first hour of that game)... so the last FF game I've played and finished was 12 and 11. This is apparently footage of Final Fantasy XV and it will be out for the PS3 and WiiU (no 360 version). So what do you guys think? Does it seem like a legit internal trailer that will be presented for E3?

By the looks of the game... it's another cyber punk game... but let's hope they get it right and do it like FFVII for once. :P
If not, I'm at least hoping they do away with the dumb FFXIII battle system. Does this even seem like a rumor or just a legitimate trailer for the new game?

We'll see in 4 days. :P

I'd be happy with another legit cyberpunk FF game. They all have their elements, of course, but I feel like 7 was the last truly cyberpunk one.

Surely it's a prank? There's stuff from Versus and that's it. I don't want to hear anything about XV until Versus has gotten a release date, Square Enix.

Looks like it was just recorded in a class room. The logo can be found on Google as well though it's probably not official since no announcement has been made yet. He speaks English too, and there's a bit too much clapping for this to feel official. Sounds like the Apple conference for iPhone.

From my point of view ... there is no record of FFXV yet. If it doesn't make E3, then the mentioned rumor is fake. They're still busy with FFXIII Versus (which god knows WTH happened to it).

I wish they would take a break from sequels for awhile and focusing on HD remakes of some of the classics. An HD remake of III/VI, VII, VIII, and maybe even IX would be epic and probably provide more entertainment than any sequel they conjure up.

That said, I hope they reconnect with that addictive core gameplay that former FF games had. If it's just a regurgitation of XIII's battle system, I think I will pass unless it has an amazing story (which I doubt).

I would very much like to see a HD remake of VI. I know everyone loves VII but I still think VI was better made if we ignore the graphic advancement. But hey it's all about how it looks opposed to the story within right?

Btw was XIII part 2 any good? I have still yet to play it, but I wasn't the biggest fan of the one before it.. Maybe I'll just get VIII since I have yet to play that one.

I also believe that rumor is fake.

I still think III/VI looks amazing. It by far one of prettiest if not the prettiest SNES game made. It has aged very well in my opinion.

Well, they are doing a FFX remake... but beyond that... I cannot give my money to Sqaure Enix unless they make a Final Fantasy game that matters. FFXII mattered, ten mattered, 9 mattered, 8 definitely mattered, *skips 7 because those words have already been said many times... LISTEN to your fans Square Enix*, 6 mattered, and even 3 mattered.

They mattered because it left a favorable impression on all the fans of Final Fantasy games. Some like one FF game more than others, but everything pre FF12 (excluding FFX-2, FFXI, and it's even debatable that FF12 wasn't nearly as good as anything in the first 10 Final Fantasy games... mainly III, VI thru X) were each their very own experience and had an impact on us. I mean, I freakin cried when:

and when Tidas:

(click to show/hide)

FF12 didn't really hold any true moments that defined the game, hence why it's debatable that the game is even worthy of a FF tag. All in all, Square Enix... please make XV a good game with memorable moments... (if it even exists)

LISTEN to your fans Square Enix

Meh what do the consumers know... Not like it would be terribly hard to remake any of those, the stories are already written... Maybe when we are all more laughably old people that still play video games they will remake them once they run out of ideas like Hollywood for example.

XII is OK, and it has tons of content to mess with for one game (so long as nobody decides to try farming 99 of the spears), albeit the story is kind of lacking and the protagonist is such a noob.

Also, why so little mentioning of XIII-2 here?

With Enix being there ... well, we won't know. I have yet to play FFXIII-2.

Only notable FF games are 6 and 7 and both were the best out of the bunch. Everything after FF9 had flaws and issues gameplay wise.

I've been a Final Fantasy fan for a long time, but it's hard to be excited about it at all anymore.  Honestly I don't think the franchise will ever recover to the quality of it's PlayStation days.  Speculating here, but the buyout/merger with Enix happened right around the time I began to grow disillusioned with it (beginning with X-2).  All the games afterwards have been fun, and "decent" RPGs, but there has yet to be a masterpiece from Final Fantasy since then.  Now it's just a money tree for Squeenix.

Myself, I'll always hearken back to VI and Tactics (not that GBA spinoff).

The PS1 Tactics is excellent, and SE somehow managed to make an under-par PSP port for it.

Final Fantasy 12 was not only the most beautiful game for the PS2 with the possible exception of Shadows of the Colossus, but one of the best written - the best in the Final Fantasy series barring the original Tactics. While Vaan is a protagonist, and you do control him at the beginning, he isn't a main protagonist such as Cloud, Squall, Zidane, or even Terra. The story and game play doesn't really elevate any of the playable cast to such an obvious position.

There wasn't an overawing single moment, just hours of technical excellence.

The PS1 Tactics is excellent, and SE somehow managed to make an under-par PSP port for it.

I played through them both in the last 2 months, the PSP version is every bit as enjoyable as the original -- particularly with the cell shaded art style and wider perspective. Though having War of the Lions on a handheld console is enough for me.

Ah! I completely forgot about FFT and the PSP port. This is definitely among their best along with 6 and 7. It still felt short for a storyline and the gameplay was about half-broken. I liked Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together's gameplay better and the character variation made it well enjoyable. I've spent about 150 hours on that game and I spent about 400+ hours combined on FFT and FFT:WotL.

Tbh I never could get into the Tactics games. It gets old fast and the barely winning every time was not healthy gaming. Well maybe I just wasn't so good at it. Lol Still have Orge laying around maybe I'll try to get back into it.

It might be the thing with the storyline which jumped from the enemy from being human to demon instead, or that JP bug in the PS1 version.

And PS1 Tactics Ogre was especially hard on chaos route.

I definitely did not shell enough perspective for what I meant. The PSP version of the game FFT is still indeed excellent.

If that's the case, you'd probably drop it about one third of the way.
