I don't have a Kinect but from what I understand, it is quite capable. Being able to use your entire body vs your arm/hand and have it work relatively well (especially considering how new it is) is bounds and leaps above the Wii's motion sensing. I plan to buy one, especially since I got a couple Kinect games free when I renewed my Live subscription
The Kinect does motion, video, and voice. The Wii is just motion. It just seems to offer so much more than a Wii controller can.

Kinect doesn't offer "buttons". You think Kinect will be valuable for shooting games or RPG games? We're talking about the big titles.
I liked dancing when my little nephew got his Kinect. It was fun, then we switched to a 4-out shooter between the family in MW3 with controllers.

Maybe if it was a unique shooter on the Wii I could understand where you are coming from but why would you play MW3 on the Wii? It was bad enough on the 360, PS3, and PC. You are talking about (arguably) the best modern COD in terms of graphics (certainly not game play) to date. I hardly think a novelty control scheme would make it more worthwhile than playing on a console that can truly showcase its graphical capability (which was pretty poor on even the best of platforms comparatively speaking).
As far RPGs, I think I would be fine with buttons on any standard controller. No need to choose an inferior system for motion control and buttons when I can choose a system with superior motion control and controller.

My enmity towards Kinect is based on hours of personal experience -- what I refer to as my time in the service. The motion controls frustrated me at every turn and I've literally gotten into verbal arguments with the bastard. Like communism, Kinect's good on paper, you might even see the propaganda films with hearty peasants clearing crop and such, but in actual practice everyone's eating turnip stew everyday and no one wants to hear your complaints.
While the Wii is clearly a limited system compared to its competitors, graphics does not mean fun - and while some games fight you with annoying wiggly-wuggly movements, stupid disconnections or misteps, and porn-esque gyrations with an oversized phallus - you can find games which are deeply satisfying. The best games on the Wii supplement the controller experience with pointing, shaking, and swinging lightly... while sitting the hell down. What's more, you can get the whole system now for what Kinect costs, probably.
Personally, I'd like to see motion gaming as whole die like a rabid badger at an NRA meeting - but while it's here, at least have it work 100% of the time and have game developers who want to do more than those stupid minigames over and over and over again.

I know Nintendo doesnt appeal to "hardcore gamers" but TBH, I believe that "Hardcore gamers" will go to PC's since thats where its at, if you go to the big shots we're talking starcraft tournaments, fps (with PC's), I know console tournaments exist but real competitiveness can only be found in PC's
so to me, consoles are just a "side-thing" thats why I dont like PS/MS because they're slowly becomming computers without the mouse. . .thats why I bought the Wii, a completely new "gaming" type. . .
but yeah, I know Nintendo has been lacking in its "target audience", I dont know why they still live in the 90's when consoles where for kids. . .

The problem is that the "hardcore gamer" demographic has changed. Now, the "hardcore" demographic (as viewed by the game manufacturers) are a bunch of frat boys who are out of college and can't find a job because their parents can't retire because they made terrible financial decisions based on a false market. Now, those "frat boys" have nothing to do but look for jobs for a couple hours every day and then play their FPS games on the console.
This is the market that the 3rd parties look at and, as such, processing power comes into play. Will the Wii U hold up? I don't think so. I firmly believe in brand loyalty and, for the past 10 years +, Nintendo hasn't been in the "hardcore" market. I believe folks are going to wait a year or two for the new XBOX and PS4.
