I seed because I want to keep stuff online for others too, I usually seed everything for at least 6months, back in the days I didn't seed because I couldn't rename or move the files whenever I want, now that I started again and uTorrent actually let's you change the location it's not a big problem, even though I have to say that I really hate to leave the filenames unchanged.

I'm wondering that there are still countries/providers who have limited bandwith, I'm paying 30€ every month for a 3000kb/s connection, with unlimited bandwidth to use and I want to upgrade it next month to 16Kkb/s

I get 9mb/s down and 1mb/s up with no bandwidth or data limits for about $45 a month. I figured that I might as well use it, as I know some people pay far more for far less.
Also, getting to and maintaining a positive ratio is a courtesy, if it's at all possible.
I would be inclined to agree with you, if you were correct.

I do it because that feel when im trying to download something really obscure and there's one seeder for it, the only one who cares. I want to be that guy for someone else.

I seed because of the bakabt's ratio rule, if it wasn't for that ratio I wouldn't even think about seeding.

Yes, I'm a selfish person, I close my torrents after downloading BUT I do seed occasionally: after downloading a new episode, a request or when I just feel like it.

I have unlimited upload, with 250gb monthly download cap. When I upload, it slows my net to dial-up speed so I really hate seeding.

tl:dr I only seed when its necessary, or someone's requesting it.

If I could, i'd seed a lot more, just bcause sharing is caring.
but my internet has limitations, mainly speedlimitations. I'm very happy if I can download at 300kb/s and ul at 80kb/s.
The main reason for these limitations is the way our homenetwork is set up. We use 5-6 pc's at home
and at my place I'm using wireless (public) homespot-wifi.. wich sucks because of the distance to the router.
--So I seed when I can and when it's feasible

When I upload, it slows my net to dial-up speed so I really hate seeding.

Always limit your global upload speed to at most 80% of your total upload bandwidth.

For example, if your ISP says you get 2.5Mbps upload, you should cap your client to 2Mbps upload (256KBps) or lower.

You should do the same with your download speed, though you probably want to limit it to a lot less than 80%.

Well I used to use uTorrent but sadly capping uploads don't work at all. I've been to fix it for years but there wasn't any, so I didn't give a shit about it and got used to it, then it became a habit not to cap uploads.

If you cap at ~50% your max upstream it feels nearly seamless.

I've heard of that bug. It's a very strange one. There's supposed to be a fix somewhere...

I thought the slowdown was due to the fact that downloads also needed to use some upstream.

Er, yes, that is what is being discussed.

If it was 1GB per day, it would take three years and a few months maybe?

At 0.4 Mbps, you can seed roughly 4GB per day. Assuming you can constantly max your up pipe for the entire time, this yields about 1.4TB in a year. Definitely doable without bonus points or any other aid.

at best i've only been uploading about 30KB/s on average when my utorrent is up, and i don't usually leave utorrent open whenever im on, although when i leave my PC the utorrent should be always on.

well i'd guess i've seed around 3GB a day on average.

My upstream is dying -.-. I better file for support now.
