In general, I used to be quite the seeder with my torrenting - my ratios were something like 1:3 to download/upload (is that the correct terminology for torrenting???). I just did it because I always had my computer on while I was away at work, and I didn't mind spreading some love. Anyway, that hit the bucket after our new ISP started blowing the whistle on things like bandwidth caps. Luckily, we've yet to get a warning, but from our "prescribed" limit, last month we went 500+ gigs over the bandwidth limit, and at $2.00/gb, if we had been charged it would have been quite nasty haha. Though, I'm not sure if the ISP charges you past a certain point, because that seems a little ridiculous. I believe Bell has or had a similar policy.
Canada; we got shit for ISP and Phone.
Wait, they actually charge you? Here, they just throttle my (cell phone's) speed to like a hundredth of the initial speed.

The big ones all put caps, and some of them confirmed to throttle as well. Anyway, just to name a few: BHell (Bell), Robbers (Rogers), Videoturd (Videotron), PShaw (Shaw). ;D

The standard is reverse (upload : download). Looking at your account, your ratio is nowhere near that...

Prior to coming to BT; my brother only recently found BT himself (and not only restricted to Anime). And he's been using my computer to torrent since I'm not home as often and his is currently busted (his Mobo fried), hence why he's logging downloads on my acct.

Yup; here's an example article

Quite the highway robbery.

I'm with Shaw. We used to be with another local company, but they were bought out by Shaw and we were forced to picked between Shaw or Bell, since they are the only providers in our area (gg monopolies)

I doubt it's allowed to share your account with your brother, nor to double post...

try this:
1) change your account password.
2) always log-off your account.
3) tell him not to mess up your PC.
4) [optional] take out the P4 power plug from the motherboard.

note: do step 4 if you're desperate, and once you get back home blame him for your PC not booting up knowing fully that you just unplugged the P4 power plug.

edit: why the P4 power plug? its because its the most overlooked part in a PC when troubleshooting.

I recently changed my ISP and it seems they're throttling upload speed?  :o
I'm getting 100Kb/s max and 10Kb/s ave..
Now my ratio is getting worse  :-[

BBT has a ridiculously high seeder/leecher ratio for most torrents. It's pretty hard for peeps to recover their ratio. If you seed a lot torrents at once though you'll get a few gigs a day.

My ISP caps my bandwidth at 250gb's.  When they instituted that, I was going over every month.  They would send me excessive use notices constantly, and warn me that they would start charging per gb over.  I don't know if they actually would have charged or not, but I wasn't going to take the risk, so I had to find alternatives to using my own bandwidth.  Which is cheaper by far than going over my cap (assuming they actually charge) and I've not had a problem with ratio on any site since then.

I'd more so call it, me leaving my account logged in rather than him deliberately logging on.  And I am aware of the double post, I was hoping to delete the first post, pasting the contents into the second post - but I didn't see a delete option nor a multi quote (or perhaps I'm overlooking it - but it seems the only way I can multi quote is to single quote and re-paste the contents into another post). I'm also very rusty with my "forum-fu", since it's been a long time since I've last been active in an online community.

It'd only be a #2, seeing as I usually leave myself logged online for the very few websites I frequent. I've no issue with him "messing" up my PC as he's not an incompetent person by all means (and it's only temporary), while #4 is just silly.

At one point of time my download from BakaBT was 23 GB downloaded and 400 MB seeded....
i didn't get a warning but i got a caution message displayed on my profile to seed more or i will be eventually warned...
i was downloading Inu Yasha at that time(33 GB).. this was in November 2011
i stopped downloading it... downloaded some freeleeches(10 or so i guess)
By the time i was done with these 10 annual freeleech started and i managed to download something like 200 GB worth of torrents which weren't Freeleeches regularly...ofcours e completed inu yasha at that time :P

Now i haven't downloaded anything from BakaBT in months so my ratio still sits pretty at >8 :D

^since i started here i had a habit of downloading 1080p which coincidentally were freeleeches, so i had no issues.

running on a crappy 2mbps/750kbps line which in reality is only 1.2mbps/500kbps line and on a regular basis only allows me to go at about 900kbps/450kbps... crappy indeed. although for once in a while for about 10mins more or less i get to witness my download speed hit 250KB/s.

Mine are even lower.... but this is the only plan in which you get unlimited download
Rest all max is like measly 50GB or so...
so i am sticking with this for the time being until i get something better in my city
i download about 150GB in a month
